NFL Analyst’s Surprise Revelation Suggests Shedeur Sanders and Coach Prime May Be Planning Massive Draft Move To Get Him to Giants

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason suggests the possibility that Shedeur and Deion Sanders could maneuver the Colorado QB to land with the Giants.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been widely regarded as a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But does he have a specific team in mind that he would like to join?

Are the Giants a Fit for Shedeur Sanders?

NFL analyst Boomer Esiason suggests that based on the moves of Sanders’ father — NFL legend and Colorado head coach Deion Sander — the New York Giants are the team being targeted.

With a win in Week 17 vs. the Indianapolis Colts, the Giants cost themselves the top pick in the draft, but according to Esiason, that doesn’t seem to be a true barrier.

“If you ask me, Tennessee and Cleveland, if I were Shedeur Sanders and Deion, I would not want to go there,” Esiason said. He also went on to emphasize the importance of finding the right coaches to develop young quarterbacks.

The Giants desperately need a quarterback, as the Daniel Jones experiment completely set the organization back. This is because incumbent general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll decided not to pick up Jones’ fifth-year option.

Had they picked up his fifth-year option instead of signing him to a contract worth $40 million annually as they did, there’s a likely possibility that this season’s NFL rushing leader, Saquon Barkley, would still be with Big Blue.

Now, Sheduer Sanders, who threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions at Colorado this season, may be the answer.

How Has Sanders’ Camp Shown Interest in Big Blue?

Esiason’s co-host on WFAN Sports Radio, Gregg Giannotti, supported his stance and opined on just how much Deion Sanders may have to do with finding the right home for his son.

“If Deion is controlling what’s going on, there is no way he lets Shedeur Sanders go to the Cleveland Browns. You can’t,” Giannotti said. “If I were Shedeur Sanders, I would rather go to the Jets. That’s saying something. They may want to do it, but Deion is not gonna let that happen.”

Essentially, the New York sports-centric show’s co-hosts have acknowledged how much of a mess everything is with the Jets throughout the year but that he would still prefer to end up there over playing for the Tennessee Titans or Cleveland Browns.

While they have this stance, I personally think that the Browns and Giants are in very similar spots as a franchise, and Cleveland may actually be better for him. Both teams have a franchise player on the defensive line, a solid defensive scheme, and yet, a lot of dysfunction in the quarterback room.

Cleveland, at times this year, looked to be just a quarterback away. Then, in other games, the Browns fully looked like their 3-14 record.

The difference here is that, as they discussed on WFAN, the Giants have seen success with a top quarterback prospect forcing his way into their hands before. That guy happened to win two Super Bowls and become a Hall of Famer. However, the Giants have looked hopeless at the QB position since Eli Manning retired.

It remains to be seen if this is the case for the 2025 NFL Draft. But one important point is that this also assumes that the Giants prefer him to Miami QB Cam Ward or Heisman Trophy winner Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter.
