Boise State Phenom Ashton Jeanty Reveals Dream Landing Spot in 2025 NFL Draft

Boise State RB Ashton Jeantry dreams of being drafted by his hometown team — the Cowboys. The question is whether he is worth the 12th pick.

Running back and Heisman Trophy Award runner-up Ashton Jeanty, who led Boise State to the College Football Playoff, submitted his name to be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. If he had his druthers, he would ask the Dallas Cowboys to draft him.

Ashton Jeanty Expresses Desire To Be Drafted by Dallas Cowboys

Jeanty, who played high school football in Frisco, Texas, believes he would be a “hometown hero” if drafted by the Cowboys, his favorite football team growing up.

He appeared on a podcast and pleaded with Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones to do everything he could to make Jeanty his top pick.

“[Kansas City Chiefs], you know what I’m saying? Be a Super Bowl contender every year, come on now,” Jeanty said while talking about teams he would like to play for. “Dallas Cowboys; I’m not saying they’re not a good fit. I’m not saying that at all. I’m from Frisco, played in Frisco, I played in their practice stadium. I would be a hometown hero if I went there.”

Jeanty also said he would rather not go to the Chicago Bears due to concerns over the weather. He said it was too cold to play there. It was a strange comment from a guy who played collegiately in Boise, Idaho.

There is still so much time between now and the NFL Draft. The Chiefs and Cowboys could both use a running back of Jeanty’s skill level and talent, but anything can happen between now and the draft.

Jeanty had said before on a podcast he had a dream where he was selected by the Cowboys.

Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards this past season and scored 30 total touchdowns. That type of production would be welcomed by any NFL team who selects him.

However, taking a running back with the 12th pick in the first round is always a risky proposition as they hardly pan out. Dallas might be better served waiting until later in the draft to find a decent running back.

One thing about Jeanty is he has the ability, like Heisman winner Travis Hunter, to score from anywhere on the field. He can also energize the fan base of whichever team selects him. There are so many intangibles to consider when selecting a guy like Jeanty.

Putting Jeanty in Kansas City would almost be unfair. Last season they got lucky enough to draft Xavier Worthy, the fastest man ever at the NFL Scouting Combine.

If they were to add a running back talent like Jeanty in the first round, they would become even more unstoppable than they already are. That would also mean Jeanty would have to drop to the bottom of the first round, which does not seem likely to happen.
