Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller paid Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes the ultimate compliment. He not only compared him to the late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, but Miller also said he wished he had a magic play that would stop Mahomes in his tracks.
Von Miller Compares Patrick Mahomes to Kobe Bryant
Miller paid great respect to Mahomes, whom he has come to admire since he entered the league.
“He’s just one of those players like Kobe (Bryant). Like, he’s going to score his shots, he’s going to score his points, no matter if you have two guys on him, one guy on him, no matter if you’re playing man zone,” Miller said. “If you’re rushing him, like, he’s going to make plays.”

Mahomes was also complimentary when speaking of Miller, one of the best linebackers to ever play the game.
“He’s still just an extreme playmaker,” Mahomes said. “He’s an effective pass rusher, knows how to get to the football, and it seems like he knows how to make plays in the biggest moments — he’s one of those guys.
“Someone you have to account for on every single snap, and just like last week, he makes a big play — it seems like he makes a big play. That’s why he was a Super Bowl MVP. They have a really good defense just in general, but he’s definitely a leader on that team.”
The two are in different divisions now, but that was not always the form. When Miller was with the Denver Broncos, the two got to know each other very well as they played each other twice a season.
Mahomes has Miller beat in the win-loss column, but the latter has had some individual success over the Kansas City QB. Accordingly, the two have built a mutual respect for one another as people and as football players.
They will meet again in the NFL playoffs as the Chiefs host the Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
Mahomes is still in the upswing of his career, while the motor on the 14-year veteran Miller is slowing down. We don’t know how many more years Miller has left, but he did register six sacks this season, proving that he’s still a bona fide threat.
