Josh Allen on the Cusp of Big Bonus for MVP Award

Allen, who has led the Bills to a 12-3 record thus far in the season, is the betting favorite to become the NFL MVP. He’s reportedly in line for a $1.5 million bonus if he wins the award — it would be the first such award for Allen.

The talented dual-threat QB also has additional motivation to stand in the way of a Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat. If he leads the Bills to a Super Bowl title — their first in team history — Allen would earn an additional $2.5 million if he plays at least 50 percent of the offensive snaps.

Allen’s statistics don’t reflect the boost in efficiency this season, but he makes the most of what he has to work with, and it’s why he’s the betting favorite to win his first MVP award. A recent report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed that Allen has played through most of the 2024 season with a fractured left hand.

Allen sustained the hand injury during Buffalo’s regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. He landed on his non-throwing hand after launching through the air on a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The injury was listed on Buffalo’s injury report as a hand injury through Week 12, but the severity of the injury was never disclosed as Allen was a full participant in practice every day.

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year after undergoing significant roster turnover during an otherwise tumultuous offseason.

The team’s salary cap deficit forced general manager Brandon Beane to make significant cuts, and the Bills were forced to part ways with many of their key contributors, including Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs, Allen’s primary targets.

Allen also had signature wins this season, defeating the Chiefs and the Detroit Lions. In Week 11, the Chiefs suffered their lone loss of the season. He then led the Bills past the Detroit Lions, the NFC’s top team, in Week 15.
