The Buffalo Bills went on an incredible run to finish the season at 13-4 after starting just 3-2. They clinched the AFC East in Week 13, an impressive feat, and will take on the Denver Broncos in Sunday’s Wild Card Round matchup.
Thus, it’s no surprise that Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady has earned interest from multiple teams following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL regular season. Buffalo’s star quarterback, Josh Allen, gave a hilarious response to the prospect of Brady leaving to be the head coach of a new team.
Josh Allen’s Message to Teams Interested in Joe Brady
Allen talked to the media ahead of the Wild Card Round. The quarterback tried his best to keep Brady in Buffalo by all means necessary.
“Nothing. He hasn’t done anything for us,” Allen joked when asked about Brady’s potential departure.
“Teams should stay away from him.”

Brady took up the Bills quarterbacks coach role back in 2022. But when former offensive Ken Dorsey was fired in the middle of the 2023 season, Brady was made the interim coordinator before receiving the full-time promotion in the offseason.
Why Are Teams Interested in Acquiring Brady?
The 35-year-old Brady’s future is as bright as any young mind in the sport, and he has left his fingerprints on an elite Buffalo offense. Since taking over this offense in Week 11 of 2023, Brady’s Bills are the second-highest-scoring offense in the league while ranking third in average time of possession and sixth in yards per game.
Of course, he was gifted the opportunity to work with one of the best quarterbacks in the sport and the presumptive 2024 MVP, but don’t let that fool you – Brady’s impact is very much a reason why this team has the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl.
- Weeks 1-10, 2023 (pre-Brady promotion): 2.45 points per drive, 17.3% turnover rate
- Since (with Brady as OC): 2.75 points per drive, 7.1% turnover rate
The ability to stay on the field is critical for a team as loaded as this one, and Brady has allowed this offense to do just that. The raw numbers are impressive, but it’s a fine line to walk while not sacrificing what makes Allen special.
It’s a line that Brady has walked with grace. That downtick in turnover rate has come over a stretch in which Allen’s average air yards per attempt has risen 2.4%. He ranks second in QB+ over expectation this season, proving capable of taking over any game at any moment.
This unit has been the third-best red zone offense in the league during Brady’s time in town, too. It is a telling ranking, as this is where offensive creativity truly pays off — along with Allen’s unique physicality.
He has thrived as a talent elevator as well, getting the best out of underrated players like Khalil Shakir and Ty Johnson. While the developmental portion of the job is unknown, his resume is as impressive as anyone in the head coaching conversation this season.
The Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars have Brady on their list of interview requests for their head coaching vacancies. But Allen, who has thrown for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, has made his preference clear.
