Among Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s immense talent is an ability to stay humble in light of the praise and excitement of his incredible season. However, he was quick to praise Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, who he called “one of the greatest ever to play the game.”
Allen and his Bills will travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game on Sunday for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Once again, the game will host a clash of titans under center.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Hope To Take Down Kansas City Chiefs
Allen and Mahomes have gone head-to-head in the NFL Playoffs three times over the past five seasons. Allen hopes this is the season the Bills emerge victorious and break through to the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Allen said Mahomes was in a league of his own and the Chiefs are “one of the greatest teams to ever be assembled.”
Allen defeated Kansas City in Week 11. It was the Chiefs’ only meaningful loss on the year. They played the Denver Broncos in Week 18 with the junior varsity squad as coach Andy Reid wanted to rest his starters, promptly falling to 15-2.

In that win over the Chiefs, Allen had a 26-yard touchdown scamper that will go down as one of the season’s most memorable plays.
Still, Allen is 0-3 against the Chiefs in the postseason. That includes losing in overtime after the infamous 13-second drive that, to this point, has defined the rivalry. The Bills have been to the Super Bowl before, but they do not know what it is like to hoist the hardware at the end of the game. Beating Mahomes is the path back to the Big Game.
If Buffalo is ever to defeat the Chiefs, this could be the year. The Bills defense is formidable and Allen has been performing at the level of an MVP all season long. He can beat you with his arm and his feet and at times is the ultimate weapon under center.
He outpaced fellow MVP candidate and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in the Divisional Round. The Bills won 27-25 for the right to head to Kansas City and battle for the Lamar Hunt Trophy.
His incredible season has landed him high praise by PFN’s QB+ metric, too. He ranks third among NFL quarterbacks this season, with Sunday’s counterpart ranking 10th — perhaps a step down from his typical dominance.
Subsequently, the scene is set for Allen to finally slay the beast in Arrowhead. A win would write a new chapter in this storied rivalry and send Buffalo to the Super Bowl, where it would play the winner of Sunday’s NFC East duel between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.
