    Bills vs. Jets Predictions

Soppe: I’m taking advantage of the public here. We get a prime-time game featuring two promising quarterbacks who want to be working into February this season … of course, the perception is going to be that the offenses are going to shine.

    Not so fast.

Rodgers’ Packers were held to 17 or fewer points in four of his past six season openers, and that could well again be the case with Tre’Davious White back at full strength for the Bills.

With that trend and Rodgers making his Jets debut, we could be looking at a slog of an effort from the home team. That, however, doesn’t mean New York can’t be competitive.

The J-E-T-S held Josh Allen to 352 yards and just one touchdown (two interceptions) on 61 pass attempts last season, locking up Stefon Diggs in the process.

We all want this to be a fun game, and I expect it to be competitive. I’m just having a hard time seeing either team getting past 24 points, and that means I’ll be the wet blanket on the final game of Week 1.

    Pick: Under 45.5 points

Bearman: The NY/NY moneyline parlay was a swing and a miss, but the good thing is, plenty more to bet.

I don’t love a side to this game, and I lean to the under (45.5). But I’m more interested in the prop market, where I’m going to play Garrett Wilson over 68.5 receiving yards. In the two games last year vs. Buffalo, Wilson went for 92 and 78 yards, respectively, both easily over the total.

I also think Mr. Rodgers throws for two touchdowns, so I will take his over at 1.5 (+110).

Picks: Garrett Wilson over 68.5 receiving yards, Aaron Rodgers over 1.5 passing touchdowns

Blewis: If I had to pick a side here, I would take the Bills, just because this is such a short number, and we know much more about them than this Jets team. It’s only at Bills (-2), so this might be a play of mine as we get closer, but I’m looking at some different bets instead.

When Rodgers connected with Wilson on that touchdown against the Giants in the preseason, it looked really similar to the many touchdowns he threw to Davante Adams in Green Bay. Although their skill sets aren’t a perfect comparison, I’m expecting Rodgers to target Wilson in the passing a lot like he did with Adams in his last two MVP seasons.

In his final two seasons in Green Bay with Rodgers, Adams saw the most red-zone targets in the NFL (63), with 23 of them going for touchdowns. Last season as a rookie, Wilson was the only player who ranked in the top 15 in red-zone targets with a completion percentage lower than 40%. We can blame a lot of that on poor QB play, but now Wilson has Rodgers throwing to him.

I’m sure the Jets will also want to show off this new duo on the biggest stage in front of their home fans in the first regular-season game. They love the publicity and rare positive coverage.

Pick: Garrett Wilson to score a touchdown (+135)

Katz: It’s the last game of the week, and what a week it’s been. Many offenses struggled to open the season, making for some ugly football. Unfortunately, I expect more of that on Monday night.

The Bills and Jets project to have two of the best defenses in the league. Sauce Gardner is already a top-five cornerback and may very well be No. 1. The Jets will surely pin him on Diggs as much as possible.

While it’s impossible to completely erase Diggs, I do think Sauce will give him fits. We could be looking at a rather inefficient day for the elite WR1.

Pick: Stefon Diggs under 70.5 receiving yards (-115)
