Legendary head coach Bill Belichick has plenty of experience in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. He made nine appearances in the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, winning six times. He appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” to discuss the playoffs and how it feels to lose on the doorstep of greatness.
Bill Belichick Sends a Blunt Message to Teams That Didn’t Make the Super Bowl
On “The Pat McAfee Show,” Bill Belichick spoke bluntly to the teams that did not reach the Super Bowl. He talked about how they will feel for the rest of the offseason.
“The Super Bowl’s a great event to watch, to see how those teams play under pressure. They’re obviously the two best teams, they’re the two teams that should be there and you want to see how they compete against each other.
“Honestly, the worst part of it is for the teams that aren’t there. Teams like Baltimore that had two turnovers without even getting hit, dropping a pass on the goal line that would’ve put the game into overtime, or Buffalo putting up a 50-yard punt return and can’t make a couple of first downs.
“Plays like that that you have to live with for six months, actually longer than that, but until you start training camp again, where you just feel like you blew the game on fundamentals, on ball security, on bad tackling like the Rams had.
“Those are heartbreaking and gut-wrenching for the team because you just have to live with them for a long period of time and I’ve been there before. It makes for a long offseason, but you gotta bounce back.
“It’s tough for a team like the Rams that feel like we should be playing there. Then you look at a team like Detroit that had the best year in their history and gave up 41 points, and you’re not going to win many playoff games if you can’t play defense. I feel bad for those teams because somebody else is gonna feel like that after the Super Bowl.
After the conversation, Pat McAfee posted the video on X, writing, “The teams that didn’t make it have to live with the plays they didn’t make.”
"The Chiefs and the Eagles should be in the Super Bowl because they're the best two teams..
The teams that didn't make it have to live with plays they didn't make..
Those are heartbreaking and gut wrenching for the team" ~ @Belichick_B #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/cyw4RFwA62

While Belichick knows what it feels like to win, he also knows what it feels like to lose. His 2007 Patriots had one of the most heartbreaking losses in NFL history when they went undefeated all season, only to lose in a massive upset to the New York Giants.
