Should You Start Bijan Robinson or Tyler Allgeier in Fantasy Football Week 5?

The Atlanta Falcons are a run-first team vs. a terrible run defense in the Texans in Week 5. But is Bijan Robinson or Tyler Allgeier the better play?

The Atlanta Falcons like to run the ball regardless of down, distance, or game script. They face the 24th-ranked Texans run defense in Week 5. Who is the better play in fantasy football, Bijan Robinson or Tyler Allgeier?

Bijan Robinson’s Fantasy Outlook This Week

Let’s not bury the lead; Robinson is our No. 2 ranked RB in fantasy this week. So unless you have CMC, the choice between Robinson vs. anyone else will be Robinson. Furthermore, this is one of the juiciest of juicy matchups vs. the Texans.

Robinson’s averages this year are 13 carries for 80 yards and five catches for another 30 yards. This week, I see his performance going nuclear, with a 200-yard-from-scrimmage day an actual possibility. The one knock against Robinson this season is that he has failed to find the end zone on the ground this year (he does have one receiving), but I see him hitting pay dirt at least once this week, with multiple tuddies an achievable possibility.

Tyler Allgeier’s Fantasy Outlook This Week

Week 1’s overaction that Tyler Allgeier may split the backfield — due to his 15-75-2 performance — has simmered. However, Robinson has not sustained the backfield himself, with Allgeier averaging seven carries and one catch per game in Weeks 3 and 4.

I can see a path to relevance vs. the Texans if Atlanta goes up big, but it is more likely that Allgeier keeps his current performance, so I predict 7-10 carries for 30-50 yards. Allgeier could be a Flex dart throw but nothing more.

Which of the Falcons Running Backs Should You Start?

Start Robinson over Allgeier this week and every week unless there is an injury. Robinson is as close to a bulletproof start as we are provided in fantasy. The dream of a two-headed Falcons backfield died after Week 2, and all faith should be restored in Robinson being a top-three running back this season.
