‘I Gotta Try This’ – Bijan Robinson Floats Recreating Saquon Barkley’s Viral Reverse Hurdle

Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson talked about Saquon Barkley's stunning backward hurdle play vs. the Jaguars -- and aims to recreate it.

Bijan Robinson recently made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. During a segment, the Atlanta Falcons running back talked about Saquon Barkley’s reverse hurdle against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11 and how he was impressed by it.

Robinson, a first-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, is projected to become one of the best running backs of the current generation. He also has his eyes set on recreating Barkley’s stunning play, which went viral on social media.

Bijan Robinson Aims To Recreate Saquon Barkley’s Hurdle vs. Jaguars

In a conversation with Rich Eisen, Robinson mentioned that he initially couldn’t believe that the Philadelphia Eagles running back successfully did the hurdle.

“I was watching it, and at first, I was like, ain’t no way that just happened,” said Robinson about Barkley’s hurdle. “I was like, that couldn’t have happened; He didn’t jump over him like he probably jumped on the side of him. But, then when I saw the replay, and he jumped completely over him, I was like, yeah, I gotta try this.

“I gotta try whether it’s over a bag, and just practice it a couple of times, or, you know, just ask my coach to just run in front of me, and I’ll just try to get behind you because that was insane, that was insane.”

Robinson and the entire NFL community were left in awe of Barkley’s hurdle. This play will be remembered for years to come, and it would be exceptional if the Falcons’ star was able to recreate it.

The Eagles are 7-2 on the season and have won five straight games. Barkley has been a huge reason for their success and has made the franchise look smart for signing him to a three-year, $37.75 million deal.

In nine games, he has rushed for 991 yards and six touchdowns, averaging a career-high 5.8 yards per carry. Barkley also has 21 receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns.

Robinson Is Having Success After Arthur Smith’s Departure

Robinson was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and, like Barkley, was viewed as a generational prospect. However, he was not able to have a flashy start to his NFL career.

The Texas product has blossomed this season under new head coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. He is averaging 74.8 rushing yards and 15.5 carries per game, which is quite higher than his last season’s average of 57.4 yards and 12.6 carries per game.

In just 10 games, Robinson has also surpassed last season’s tally of four rushing touchdowns — he has six this year. Unlike other positions, running backs are usually utilized straight away from their rookie season, but former HC Arthur Smith didn’t follow suit.

The Falcons are 6-4 on the season and are viewed as a Super Bowl contender. Robinson is on his way to having his first 1,000+ rushing-yard season and could potentially have 2,000+ all-purpose yards, which would be a huge achievement.
