Fantasy Matchups Week 5: Target These TEs
Tyler Conklin vs. Denver Broncos
Conklin had four catches for 58 yards in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, getting the second most targets in that game (Garrett Wilson 14 targets). Conklin and Zach Wilson connected on some great passes in the game, showing they have developed chemistry and Wilson trusts him.
The New York Jets will be taking on the Denver Broncos, and they have had a tough time stopping opposing tight ends. Last week, the Broncos gave up seven catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns to tight end Cole Kmet.
The Wilson-to-Conklin connection is solid and has a high upside in the matchup against the Broncos. Denver’s defense has been surprisingly bad this year, and Conklin could be in store for a big day. Conklin has top-10 potential this week at the tight end position in a game the Jets are going to be extremely hyped for.
Sam LaPorta vs. Carolina Panthers
The former Iowa tight end has gotten off to a great start in his NFL career, as he has looked like an absolute steal from the second round.

LaPorta has formed quite a connection with Jared Goff, as he has 22 catches on 27 targets through the four games. He had had at least five catches for 39 yards in every game this year and has controlled the middle of the field.
Adding Jameson Williams to the mix gives this offense another game-breaker on the outside and will force a safety to stay on top. With that matchup, LaPorta should have all kinds of room over the middle of the field. He could best his season-high eight catches, 84 yards, and one touchdown against the Falcons in this game.
LaPorta has top-five potential at the tight end position.
Mark Andrews vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Mark Andrews is coming off a big-time performance against the Cleveland Browns, as he had five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the Baltimore Ravens bringing in some new receivers this year, Andrews is still the go-to target of Lamar Jackson.
Andrews had a big game in his final game last year against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he had nine catches for 100 yards.
The Steelers’ defense is doing a lot of soul-searching after their performance against the Houston Texans. They allowed rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud to throw for 306 yards. Pittsburgh has a great pass rush but isn’t able to slow down opposing receivers.
The Steelers are 26th in pass defense (254.5 YPG) and look for Andrews to once again have a big game and score a touchdown.
Dalton Kincaid vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
When the Buffalo Bills took Dalton Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, there was an expectation that he was going to be a focal part of the offense.

The former collegiate star at Utah fits the modern-day NFL tight end, as he is a great athlete who can be a monster in the passing game. He is too fast for linebackers and too strong for secondary players. He has been targeted 17 times this year, and he has 15 catches.
If there is one disappointment is the fact he has only 99 yards and is averaging just 6.6 yards per carry. The Jaguars’ defense has struggled against the pass as well, ranking 22nd in the league by allowing 238.3 yards per game.
Look for the rookie to get his first touchdown against Jacksonville.
