Bengals QB Joe Burrow Continues Mission To Address Food Insecurities By Teaming With Kodiak Cakes

CINCINNATICincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been an advocate for food insecurity since before his Heisman Trophy speech brought so much attention to it.

Burrow has continued to address the issue by creating the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund, working with La Soupe, a Cincinnati soup kitchen, and other endeavors.

Pairing With Kodiak Latest Philanthropic Effort by Joe Burrow

Burrow’s latest pairing is with Kodiak to donate 30,000 meals to local schools in Ohio and Louisiana. Kodiak is known for its high-protein, whole-grain breakfast products, and Burrow is an investor.

As a nod to the cities that have helped Burrow ascend to being the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, the Joe Burrow Foundation will be donating 9,999 — with a nod to his No. 9 jersey number — meals to schools in Cincinnati, Baton Rouge, La., and Athens, Oh.

“This partnership with Kodiak provides a great opportunity for the Joe Burrow Foundation to expand our efforts in promoting healthy breakfast options,” Burrow said in a press release. “I’m grateful for Kodiak’s commitment to provide nutritious meals to families in each of the communities that I have called home.”

The town where Burrow grew up, Athens, is known as a food desert, where 47% of residents lack access to fresh produce, meats, and dairy.

In addition to the 9,999 meals, the Joe Burrow Foundation and Kodiak are teaming to create a local pantry to help provide children with nutritious meals.

“We are very excited to be working with Joe and his nonprofit, as well as incredible organizations in Ohio and Louisiana to provide kids with better-for-you breakfast options,” Kodiak CEO Val Oswalt said in the release.

“Providing meals for children is going to help fuel their bodies and minds, which is incredibly important as they head back to school. Here at Kodiak, we believe that a hearty, warm breakfast sets you up for epic days and wild success.”
