Who Is Beau Brade? Height, Weight, Age, and More

    Published on

Maryland safety Beau Brade comes from a football lineage. Could he be in line to become another Terrapins DB to have a successful NFL career?

Beau Brade is a safety from Clarksville, Md., who played his high school football at River Hill.

He has an NFL pedigree, as his father, Ron, played football at Virginia Tech and graduated in 1988. Brade grew up as a Baltimore Ravens fan, and his favorite player is Ray Lewis. He’ll now have the opportunity to embark on a professional football career in the 2024 NFL Draft.

    How Tall Is Beau Brade?

Brade measured in at 6’0″ at the NFL Scouting Combine. His height sits in the 34th percentile of draft prospects at his position, per MockDraftable.

How Much Does Beau Brade Weigh?

Brade weighed in at 203 pounds, which is slightly undersized for the safety position, coming in at the 35th percentile. While 203 pounds is a little light for a safety, it shouldn’t be a huge red flag for him.

    How Old Is Beau Brade?

Brade is 22 years old. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler wrote that the average prospect is 23.24 years old, which would make Brade younger. The Ringer’s Nora Princiotti wrote that the average age of a first-round selection dropped from 22.6 in 2000 to 21.7 in 2018.

What School Did Beau Brade Go To?

Brade went to Maryland, which has a history of professional football players making their mark at the next level. Among them are former San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis and former Ravens wideout Torrey Smith.

In total, 236 professional players have suited up for the Terps and 242 Maryland players have been drafted, per Pro Football Reference.

    Revisiting Beau Brade’s College Career

Brade played in all five of Maryland’s games in 2020, making three tackles (two solo). He went on to play in 12 of 13 games in 2021, tallying 14 tackles (10 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.

Brade’s breakout season was his junior year as he started in all 13 games and led the Terrapins with 85 tackles (55 solo), five pass deflections, four tackles for loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles, being named a 2022 Big Ten honorable mention.

Brade was named a 2023 team captain and a 2023 Big Ten honorable mention while starting all 12 games.

Brade led the team in tackles with 75 (48 solo), was second on the team in pass breakups (six), and had four tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Beau Brade’s Potential in the NFL

Ever since he was in high school, Brade has had a nose for the football. He profiles as a hybrid safety by Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings.

“Blocks don’t scare Brade, and neither does congestion,” Cummings wrote. “He’s an explosive, confident closer coming downhill, who can square up and combat extensions, sear around second-level blockers with speed, and wrap up at the tackle point with force and authority.

“In coverage, Brade has a similar kind of universal utility. He doesn’t quite have the versatility to play press-man and off-man in the slot consistently, but he has superb instincts as a split safety. He can square up routes, pass off and carry in zone, and click-and-close on in-breakers.

“While Brade did rotate back to single-high at times in college, he likely projects best purely as a split safety in the NFL, who can also play off-man against TEs in the slot, or loom in the box and cover the flats.”
