Ryan Poles promised bold moves in the Bears' search for a new head coach. Fans are skeptical after years of misfires and disappointment.

GM Ryan Poles is taking the wheel in the search for the next head coach, and things are about to get bumpy. After years of chaos and failed attempts, the pressure’s on for Poles to finally land a winner.

But with the Bears’ track record of misfires, the fanbase isn’t exactly throwing a parade just yet.

Ryan Poles Hints at Bold Moves in Bears’ Quest for New Head Coach

During a media conference, Poles alluded that no stone will be left unturned in the hunt for a new leader.

“We’ll look at all avenues to get the best coach here,” he said, hinting that even trading for a coach is on the table. The Bears’ struggling offense and inconsistent play have led Poles to emphasize key qualities like a “clear vision” and “game management” in the next head coach.

The team has posted a horrendous 15-36 record over the past three seasons under Poles. “There’s going to be some names that you don’t expect that are going to surprise you because we’re digging deeper than we ever have before,” Poles added.

While Poles admits to feeling the sting of a rough season, taking “responsibility as the leader of the football operation,” the search for a solution is now underway. The Bears have been nothing short of disappointing, but Poles insists this time will be different. If the GM can deliver on his promises, the Bears’ next head coach could be the piece that finally gets the team back on track.

Bears fans are eagerly awaiting the surprise names Poles has up his sleeve.

Bears Fans React to Poles’ Bold Claim

“I’ll end up selecting the coach, I’ll take the lead on that,” Poles said, taking full responsibility for the high-stakes search for the team’s next head coach.

Reactions poured in fast, and the sentiments were mixed, to say the least.

One fan, perhaps sensing the storm ahead, sarcastically chimed in, “Hello OC from Arizona….good lawd, we’re in trouble.” The frustration was clear — after years of underperformance, the idea of Poles picking another head coach wasn’t sitting well (and Drew Petzing was caught in the crosshairs).

Others took it further, calling Poles out directly. “Poles is the worst GM in franchise history. How does he still have a job?” another fan vented. Albeit, Poles does currently hold the worst winning percentage among GMs in franchise history (.294; ranks below Mark Hatley, 1997-2000, at .297).

Clearly, the weight of a 15-36 record is heavy, and fans want change — starting with the GM.

One fan even suggested, “Someone should select a new GM first!” It’s a bold statement, but given the team’s struggles, many feel that change at the top is overdue.

A more cynical take came from another fan, who predicted, “Ben Johnson is definitely not coming to this circus 🤡,” adding fuel to the fire. Speculation has swirled that Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson may be avoiding a Bears job linked to Poles’ tenure.

On the flip side, some fans held onto hope, with one passionately backing former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. “It’s VRABEL time – 3 Super Bowl rings – a proven leader,” they posted, emphasizing the need for a true leader.

As the Bears’ search unfolds, one thing’s clear: Poles has his work cut out for him. The next head coach could be the tipping point for this franchise’s future — but first, Poles needs to win over a skeptical fanbase.
