Don’t come at DJ Moore with any talk of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels.
The Chicago Bears receiver has been a vocal supporter of Justin Fields as trade rumors have swirled around the 24-year-old quarterback. Moore prefers the Bears committing to Fields rather than drafting a new QB — a stance he reiterated on Monday.
DJ Moore Thinks Justin Fields Is Better Than QB Prospects
During an appearance on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” show, Moore was asked to compare Fields to Williams, Maye, and Daniels.
“I still don’t think they compare to Justin right now,” Moore said.
Moore’s support of Fields is understandable, as the 26-year-old receiver enjoyed a career-best campaign in 2023. In his first season with the Bears, Moore set career-highs in catches (96), yards (1,364), and touchdowns (eight).
“The relationship jelled real well from the beginning,” said Moore, who joined the Bears following five seasons with the Carolina Panthers. “Since I got traded, he was in contact, and we started throwing together, so it made the transition into games and everything easy.”
If the Bears stick with Fields, many assume they’ll trade down from the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and select a top receiver prospect. If that plays out, Moore hopes Chicago targets Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr.
“We could add another receiver,” Moore said. “They got some real talented ones [in the draft]. I know Marvin, so that’d be a choice of mine. But any of those guys that are the big names, I’ve seen and really liked.”
Conflicting Reports on Bears’ NFL Draft Plans
We still don’t know how Chicago will proceed at quarterback, and there are credible reports on both sides.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer recently reported the Bears could finalize a Fields trade as soon as this week. At the very least, Chicago could have “the bones of the trade” settled by the time team executives leave the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
However, legendary NFL columnist Peter King on Monday offered a different take. In his retirement column, King confidently speculated that the “wind is blowing” in the direction of the Bears keeping Fields and trading the No. 1 pick. King floated the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons as two potential trade suitors.
Justin Fields Wants To Stay With the Chicago Bears
Fields, the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, recently generated headlines after he unfollowed the Bears on Instagram. However, the Ohio State product insisted the move wasn’t indicative of his feelings toward the franchise.
“I still mess with the Bears,” Fields said on the “St. Brown Bros” podcast. “I’m just trying to take a little break. I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m not just trying to have football on my timeline. I know y’all mess with a girl … just because you don’t follow the girl on IG, don’t mean you not messing with her.
“It’s something that I don’t want to see on my timeline. I’m about to go on vacation, I don’t wanna see no football. It’s either keep Fields, we want Fields, draft Caleb. I’m tired of hearing the talk. I just want it to be over.”
Fields then reiterated his preference for staying in Chicago.
“Of course, I want to stay,” Fields said on the podcast. “I can’t see myself playing in another place. But if it was up to me, I would want to stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city’s lit. The fans there are great and the people. It’s a business. I ain’t got no control over it. Whatever happens, happens.
“I think the biggest thing with all this going on right now, I just want it to be over. Like, just let me know if I’m getting traded, let me know if I’m staying, this and that.”

Fields compiled a 10-28 record over his first three seasons with the Bears. In 2023, he completed 61.4% of his passes for 2,562 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with nine interceptions.
Fields, who missed four games due to injuries, added 124 rushing attempts for 657 yards and four scores.
