The Baltimore Ravens have had the luxury of keeping their head coach for more than 15 seasons.
John Harbaugh remains in place in Charm City, joining Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers as the two longest-tenured head coaches in the NFL right now.
But did Harbaugh make any notable changes with his coaching staff ahead of the 2024 campaign?

Harbaugh’s staff is loaded with coaches already familiar with his coaching style who have spent more than one season with him.
One received an elevation this offseason, as Zach Orr is going from inside linebackers coach to defensive coordinator this season. Orr’s promotion comes as former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald takes control as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

On the offensive side, Todd Monken proved to be a wise hire for Harbaugh as offensive coordinator. Monken, who previously won two national titles with Georgia, took a Baltimore offense that ranked 16th in total yards for 2022 and lifted the Ravens to No. 6 overall.
In his first season playing under Monken, QB Lamar Jackson won his second MVP trophy as he made great strides as a passer, recording career highs in completion percentage and passing yards.
Elsewhere, Chris Hewitt is another coach with a new role on Harbaugh’s staff. Hewitt moves to assistant head coach while also retaining passing game coordinator duties. He was secondary coach last season and has been with the franchise since 2012.
New Additions to the Ravens’ Coaching Staff
The Ravens and Harbaugh did lose some key figures from their sidelines during the offseason, and have brought in new faces to replace them.
Mark DeLeone is brand new to the staff as he takes over the inside linebackers coach gig. He comes to Baltimore from the University of Kansas.
Dennis Johnson is another jumping from the Big 12 to the NFL, leaving his defensive line coach post with Baylor to take the same position with the Ravens.
Doug Mallory also coached collegiately in 2023. He’s joining Monken as a past national title winner, as Mallory was with Jim Harbaugh at Michigan as a defensive analyst last year. Mallory now has the DB coach job in Baltimore.
Travelle Wharton is the lone new hire who coached in the NFL last season, coming to Baltimore from the Washington Commanders. Wharton was also previously with the Carolina Panthers from 2018-19.

As previously mentioned, Macdonald has his first head coaching opportunity after turning Baltimore into a top 10 defensive unit. He joins Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan, Rex Ryan, and Chuck Pagano as past Ravens defensive coordinators who became a head coach.
Anthony Weaver was another departure, going from Ravens defensive line coach to DC of the Miami Dolphins in 2024.
Dennard Wilson is one more who got siphoned from Harbaugh’s staff for a defensive coordinator job as he will run the Tennessee Titans’ defense.
