Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield was briefly shaken up during the team’s Week 12 game vs. the New York Giants. Below is the latest on the Bucs starting QB.
What Happened to Baker Mayfield?
Mayfield and the Bucs were rolling on Sunday versus the Giants. However, up 30-7 in the third quarter, Mayfield fumbled a snap and collided with offensive lineman Luke Goedeke. He grabbed his head immediately afterward.
Mayfield subsequently went into the blue medical tent. While such a play usually leads to speculation about a concussion, Tampa Bay officially deemed the quarterback questionable to return with a stinger.

However, Mayfield returned to the game immediately after, so this is nothing to be concerned about.
Entering Week 12, Mayfield ranked 12th among QBs, with a B- grade, according to PFN’s QB+ metric. However, he had been 20th over the previous four weeks as he struggled without both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.
Mayfield has some impressive headline-grabbing numbers, including leading the league in passing touchdowns per game (2.4), and has backed that up with a 44.4% third-down conversion rate (seventh) and a 103.6 passer rating (fifth).
