Atlanta Falcons’ Opponents 2024: Home Game Against Kansas City Chiefs, While Kirk Cousins Heads Back to Minnesota

    Published on

The full 2024 NFL schedule isn't out just yet, but every team knows who their opponents will be. Who will the Atlanta Falcons square off against in 2024?

Although the NFL has not yet released a full 2024 schedule with times and dates for the upcoming season’s games, we know which opponents all 32 teams will face in 2024, along with the split of home and road games.

The Atlanta Falcons will face their usual NFC South rivals, but they will also host the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs while also heading to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.

Atlanta’s NFC South third-place finish in 2024 gives them an easier schedule than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints. The schedule features nine home games and eight road bouts, as NFC teams will be hosting an extra home game this year after having to go on the road more in 2023.

With Kirk Cousins in as the new quarterback, there will be plenty of optimism for the Falcons to be a playoff team.

Kirk Cousins Heads Back to Minnesota

One of — if not the — biggest moves in free agency this offseason was when Kirk Cousins signed with the Falcons. He signed a four-year, $180 million contract with $100 million guaranteed.

By signing with the Falcons, that ended a successful run as the quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. He played six seasons in Minnesota, passing for 23,265 yards, 171 touchdowns, and 55 interceptions.

While he put up big numbers, the team was able to win only one playoff game during his time, going 1-2 in the playoffs.

He was on a monster pace last year, as he had thrown for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions before tearing his Achilles.

The Vikings did not match that offer, which showed that the team was starting to plan for the future. Now, Cousins is in Atlanta with a team with a ton of offensive firepower.

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to make a historic run at the first-ever three-peat in NFL history, and they will have to travel to Atlanta for a game. These two teams have played only 10 times in the regular season, with the Chiefs winning seven of those games.

The last two matchups have been very close, as the Chiefs have won the last two contests by a total of four points.

Cousins has faced off four times against the Chiefs, and he is 0-4 in those games. However, he has been very efficient in those bouts, as he has thrown for seven TDs and zero INTs in the last three games.

For the Falcons, this is a team that will be entering the season with an expectation of being a contender in the NFC. A big win against the defending Super Bowl champions
