    Published on

Arthur J. Rooney II (AKA Art Rooney II) is the third-generation Rooney owning the Pittsburgh Steelers -- we take a look at his $2.4 million house.

Arthur J. Rooney II, also known as Art Rooney II, is the son of Dan Rooney and Patricia (Reagan) Rooney. He was born in 1952 and is the eldest of nine children.

Before taking over as president of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2003, Rooney was a lawyer by profession. He is part of the well-known Rooney family, whose wealth is estimated at $1.2 billion, largely due to their ownership of the Steelers. The Steelers franchise was founded in 1933 by Art Rooney Sr. for just $2,500.

Rooney II took over as owner in 2017, and he enjoyed two Super Bowl titles during his time as president. Today, we’ll look at the primary residential property of Art Rooney II and the amenities they have for their house in Pittsburgh.

Rooney resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Greta, and their four children. It’s a single-family house with 6,597 square feet of living space on a 0.32-acre lot. The two-story house includes eight bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The brick house, built in 1926, was purchased by the Rooney family in 1991 for $825,000 and became their residence in 1996.

The home features a fireplace, a central cooling system, a two-car garage, and an attic under a shake/shingle-style roof. The house is estimated to be worth approximately $2.4 million by many real estate agencies.

Another property often associated with Rooney is the McCreery-Rooney house on Lincoln Ave. in Pittsburgh. This 5,376-square-foot single-family home sits on a 7,040-square-foot lot. Built in 1867 in a colonial architectural style, it has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and an attic under a shake/shingle-style roof.

The McCreery-Rooney house has an interesting history. It was originally built for the McCreery family, who owned one of Pittsburgh’s most popular and stylish department stores.

The tearoom at “McCreery’s” was a popular spot for generations of Pittsburghers to meet while shopping downtown. Eventually, the house was sold to Dan Rooney, where his family continued to live.
