Who Are Patrick Mahomes’ Parents?
Mahomes’ parents are his mother, Randi, and his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr. The couple met in Texas, and Randi gave birth to Patrick at an early age.
Randi has been Mahomes’ biggest supporter and shared with PEOPLE that giving birth “made me grow up in a good way, in a great way. Being a mother is my favorite thing sometimes, and sometimes it’s hard, but it is my favorite thing.”
Now focused on her job as an events planner at the Hollytree Country Club, Randi still makes time for her three children.
Mahomes Sr. is a former baseball player whose career spanned from 1992 to 2003. The former MLB pitcher had 452 strikeouts over his career, ending with a 42-39 record.
Surprisingly, Randi was unaware that the elder Mahomes was a professional athlete when they first met. Randi was fresh out of high school at the time and fell instantly in love with her future husband.
The couple married in the late ’90s, and Randi gave birth to Mahomes in 1995 at the age of just 20.
Randi says on her website that she “never intended to be a young mother, but her faith told her that this was God’s plan. As a young mom, she put her personal plans aside, grew up quickly, and focused on being the best mom she could be to Patrick.”
Are Mahomes’ Parents Still Married?
Mahomes’ parents, however, are no longer together and divorced in 2006. While details of their relationship have remained private, Randi shared a glimpse into the relationship on her QB Producer website.
“Married life with a professional baseball player is a hard life,” Randi’s website says. “[It] took a toll on their relationship which led to divorce. True to Randi’s optimistic spirit, the two are friendly to this day.”
Mahomes’ parents remained friends after their divorce. They have often been seen and pictured together at games and events.
Since divorcing, both Randi and Mahomes Sr. have had children from other relationships. They share a bond together over their children Patrick and Jackson. However, Randi also has her daughter, Mia, while Mahomes Sr. has Grant, Avery, and Zoe from other relationships.
