Entering 2021, Antonio Gibson’s dynasty value was through the roof.
He had a rookie season that saw him rack up over 1,000 scrimmage yards, catch 36 passes, and score 11 times in just 14 games. He ran for 1,037 yards the following season but has been trending in the wrong direction for his fantasy football managers ever since the Washington Commanders spent a third-round pick on Brian Robinson Jr.
Should we be holding out hope for Gibson’s value to swing back in the other direction, or are his best days already behind him now that he is a New England Patriot and thus playing behind Rhamondre Stevenson?
Antonio Gibson’s Dynasty Outlook
The idea of Gibson makes all the sense in the world. He’s a versatile back entering the prime of his career with a pair of double-digit touchdown seasons on his NFL résumé. If the analysis stops there, Gibson looks like a weekly starter and one that you’d want to hang onto as you look to compete over the next few seasons.

But it doesn’t.
Gibson fell well behind Robinson in the hierarchy of the Commanders’ backfield and is fighting even more of an uphill battle toward consistent work now as a member of a limited Patriots offense that currently has one position with some promise — running back.
He was trusted with just 65 carries in his 16 appearances last season, and while the catch total increased for a third consecutive campaign, it’s clear that his path to meaningful work is more dependent on injuries in front of him than anything. Could New England look to manage Stevenson? It’s possible, but there is no real reason to expect Gibson to make a run at the lead role in this offense barring an injury.

Should You Trade Gibson in Dynasty?
Are you considering trading Gibson? Our free PFN Trade Analyzer allows you to find the best trade offer to make in seconds!
I’m holding Gibson as opposed to trading him right now, but that’s more of a cost-analysis decision than one borne out of optimism. He averaged a career-high 8.1 yards per catch in 2023 and owns an impressive 80.3% catch rate, skills that will be useful if given the opportunity.
Do I expect that opportunity to arise? No, but neither does anybody else, helping his stock tank to a point that makes him difficult to extract value from.

Could he flirt with 10 touches a game? Could that hold low-end Flex value in a PPR setting? He holds more value than the trade market currently gives him credit for, though that doesn’t mean he’s an asset I’m excited about.
You don’t have to like the player, you just have to play the value game and realize that the odds of you getting a better package in a deal is more likely to happen the closer we get to the 2024 season.
