Ex-Steelers All-Pro WR Takes Wild Shot at George Pickens After Costly Drops vs. Bengals

A former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro aimed at George Pickens after the WR's rough outing against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has been dealing with a lot in the past couple of weeks. After his controversial tense moment with a reporter last week, the wide receiver is once again at the receiving end of NFL fans’ wrath.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown has found a calling for himself on X (previously Twitter) by trolling people and players. Brown did not let Pickens’ roughouting pass by and took a shot at him.

Antonio Brown Jokes at George Pickens’ Expense

Pickens turned out to be a catalyst for the Steelers’ 17-19 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. During the game, Pickens was targeted six times but caught the ball only once for zero yards. The 23-year-old had a redemption moment with 20 seconds left on the clock as well.

However, Pickens couldn’t make the catch that would’ve won the game for the Steelers. Hence, Brown took to X and posted a picture of actor Orlando Jones as his character Clifford Franklin from the film “The Replacements”.

The film is about a set of replacement football players playing in the big leagues. Franklin is the WR of the team and possesses ferocious speed but can’t catch the ball. “George Pickens tonight,” Brown tweeted.

Despite his poor run of form, Pickens remains the top WR on the Steelers roster. He finished the season with 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns.

Russell Wilson Stands Up for Pickens

There have been rumors that Pickens’ relationship with QB Russell Wilson is not at its best. However, after the loss against the Bengals, Wilson shut those rumors by standing up for his WR when the world was targeting him.

“I believe in George,” Wilson said to the press. “Listen, everything’s not always perfect for everyone. This is an imperfect game and everything else. I believe in George, I believe in who he is, the player that he is.”

“He’s been a star for us all season and he’s going to be a difference-maker obviously for us in the playoffs. I’m looking forward to that, and what he can do, what we can do together. And I’m not blinking on George. If anybody believes in him, I definitely do.”
