Deion Sanders has previously asserted that he would remain with the Colorado Buffaloes despite his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, and two-way star Travis Hunter leaving for the NFL. Despite that, many feel Coach Prime will take up a job in the NFL, probably with the Dallas Cowboys, who struggled under head coach Mike McCarthy.
Coach Prime to the NFL?
Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, has close ties in the NFL. Analysts have already started discussing what the NFL world would look like once someone of Deion’s stature enters the pro league once again. The latest to weigh in was analyst Louis Riddick, who said the following on Tuesday’s Get Up show.
"The NFL needs someone like Deion Sanders, quite honestly. He fits the NFL, it's a matter of whether or not the NFL fits him."

“Look, I think the NFL overall is exactly what it needs — someone like Deion Sanders, quite honestly,” Riddick said. “He fits the NFL. The question is whether the NFL fits him. That’s the issue, whether it’s Dallas or anywhere else. Let me tell you this: anybody who knows that man knows he takes a backseat to nobody — nobody. Not an owner, not players, not other coaches — nobody.
“For him to come to the NFL right now and have to deal with mega-millionaires who don’t want to practice, don’t want to play hard, don’t want to sacrifice, or don’t want to listen –that would send him through the roof. See, he can control that to a large degree at Colorado and in the college game,” he continued.
“I don’t know if the pro game is necessarily what he wants, but I can tell you this: if I were an owner and spent some time talking to him, like I have, and understood what makes him tick, I’d be trying desperately to get him into my building. There’s no question about that. It’s just a matter of whether or not he wants it.”
What Riddick was trying to emphasize was that coaching at the college level is a different beast than dealing with multi-million-dollar professionals.
Report: Deion Sanders Hasn’t Received Any Interest From Jerry Jones’ Team
Despite wild speculations that Jerry Jones will bring Deion Sanders on board for next season, Dianna Russini of The Athletic said that Coach Prime hasn’t received any interest from NFL teams.
“Coach Prime isn’t landing at The Star,” she wrote. “The 57-year-old University of Colorado coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback has said publicly he wants to stay in college football, despite some theories that Jerry Jones is targeting his former star.”
So despite whatever analysts might think about Coach Prime taking up a new job next year, it’s nowhere close to a done deal that he lands in the NFL next year.
