Analyst Predicts Shedeur Sanders Goes No. 1 in 2025 NFL Draft After Surprise Team Trades Up

Shedeur Sanders is one of the most hyped-up players for the 2025 NFL Draft class, and a recent mock draft has him going No. 1 to the Raiders.

Shedeur Sanders is one of the most hyped-up players in the 2025 NFL Draft.

It remains to be seen where Deion Sanders’ son will get drafted, but one NFL analyst has the quarterback hearing his name called first after a surprise trade by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Shedeur Sanders Predicted To Get Picked No.1 By Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders and Sanders feel like a match made in heaven. The lights don’t get much brighter than in Las Vegas, and Sanders has a spotlight on him that few can compare to.

The big question leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft is whether Sanders will even be on the board when the Raiders pick at No. 6. The Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants all hold top-three selections and could target the Buffaloes’ star quarterback.

However, in a surprise trade-up, USA Today’s Cory Woodroof predicts the Titans will trade their top pick to the Raiders, allowing them to land what he calls “its quarterback of the future.”

“The Titans, having signed Rodgers, make a deal with the Raiders for the top pick. Las Vegas winds up in prime position to land its quarterback of the future.”

“Here you go, Raiders fans! Sanders joins the Raiders as this year’s first-overall draft pick. Las Vegas gets the unquestioned star power at quarterback the franchise has coveted for years.”

Brentley Weissman’s latest PFSN mock draft also has Sanders being selected by the Raiders, although he has him falling to No. 6.

“Perhaps one of the most commonly mocked team and player fits, Sanders to Las Vegas just feels right,” Weissman wrote. “The Raiders are in desperate need of a quarterback and Shedeur Sanders has the talent to be the team’s new franchise passer.

“Sanders may not have elite physical tools, but he throws with very good accuracy, timing, and touch. He should go a long way in bringing some much-needed excitement to Sin City.”

Sanders is widely regarded as the most NFL-ready QB in the 2025 NFL Draft as well as the most accurate and reliable quarterback in this class. He holds the all-time FBS record for career completion percentage at 71.8%.

Sanders doesn’t have the athletic upside of others, but his movement is underrated, and he can operate full-field reads and manipulate the middle of the field. Despite playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in college football, the Colorado product’s pocket navigation is impressive, setting him up to potentially start as a rookie.

Elite accuracy is the most distinct selling point of Sanders’ tape. He generates enough velocity and has a degree of off-platform freedom. And while his mechanics are imperfect, he can find uncanny ways to hit targets with good placement and touch.

It is no secret that the Raiders are in the market for a new QB and will look to land a new signal-caller either via this year’s draft class or a free-agent signing or trade. The offense finished 29th by PFSN’s Offense+ metric in 2024, but Sanders, if they can manage a trade, could be a perfect fit for them.
