Analyst Draws Parallels Between Tim Tebow and Arch Manning’s Media Coverage

Manning was expected to start the 2024 college football season. However, because Ewers decided to return for another year, he had to wait for his turn for a bit longer than anticipated, even sparking various transfer portal rumors.

While the fans are excited to see Manning perform, many individuals find it annoying and criticize him for the hype around him.

Talking about the Manning situation, Josh Pate said that he can remember the Tim Tebow hype being the same as the Longhorns quarterback, even the part where the fans get irritated with all the media houses talking about them constantly.

Pate said that it’s not Manning and Tebow themselves that the fans hate, it’s the fact that they’re overexposed to being,  by being the cover of every magazine, being in various interviews and constantly being a topic of discussion.

“Remember a generation ago, a guy by the name of Tim Tebow came through Florida, and by the time he left Florida, I’m being told Tim Tebow was the most polarizing player in college football. And even at the time, I was still really young, I remember thinking, what’s polarizing about Tim Tebow? They hated Tebow because he was overexposed. Everyone talked about him.”

“He’s on the cover of every magazine. So their answer was, I hate, Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow didn’t write a single article about himself. Tim Tebow didn’t host a single segment about himself. So I always wondered, then, just like I’ll wonder about Arch Manning this year. Do you hate Arch Manning, or do you hate the over-coverage of Arch Manning? I would think it’s the latter disguised as the former.” (35:35)

Steve Sarkisian has officially named Arch Manning as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback for the 2025 college football season while also announcing that they won’t be holding a spring game this year.
