Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown has gone for over 100 receiving yards in three straight games, but now, he may have to contend with expanding roles in the passing game from WR Jameson Williams and RB Jahmyr Gibbs. Should fantasy football managers consider selling high on St. Brown heading into Week 9? Let’s take a closer look.
Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Rest-of-Season Outlook
The list of players with a high fantasy floor on a weekly basis isn’t very long. In his seven games played this season, St. Brown has five 100-yard receiving performances and has a minimum of 56 receiving yards and five receptions.
For those of you capable of converting these numbers into PPR fantasy points, that means St. Brown has posted fantasy scores over 10.0 fantasy points in every single game this season.
His fantasy floor at the WR position is among the very elite at the position, and he’s one of the most reliable fantasy starters in PPR formats. Some may worry about St. Brown losing work to Williams, Gibbs, or TE Sam LaPorta in the passing game, but I would argue all of the players just mentioned are complementary pieces to St. Brown in the passing game.
Until his target share or production takes a significant dip, he is the clear alpha in the Lions’ passing game moving forward.

Should You Trade Amon-Ra St. Brown for Cooper Kupp?
If you could guarantee me that Los Angeles Rams signal-caller Matthew Stafford will be Cooper Kupp’s quarterback for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season, I would probably go with Kupp. However, St. Brown’s situation with Detroit QB Jared Goff playing at a high level and peppering him with targets on a weekly basis has me feeling like St. Brown is the safer fantasy option heading into the back half of the season.

Should You Trade Amon-Ra St. Brown for Stefon Diggs?
One of the very few players who has an actual argument for a higher weekly floor than St. Brown is Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs. Diggs has seen 11-plus targets, seven-plus receptions, and 70-plus receiving yards in six out of eight games this season. He also traditionally has had a higher touchdown equity than St. Brown in a very high-powered offense. I would trade St. Brown for Diggs at this moment.
Should You Trade Amon-Ra St. Brown for Kenneth Walker III?
Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III may be the RB7 in PPR formats right now, but he was significantly outsnapped by rookie rusher Zach Charbonnet in Week 8. Sure, Walker was dealing with a calf injury heading into Sunday’s game, but Charbonnet certainly feels like a legitimate threat to see more work through the back of the season. St. Brown simply has too high of a fantasy floor to take a risk on Walker, which means I would not do this trade.
