Amari Cooper Injury Update: What We Know About the WR

Up 20-0 late in the third quarter against the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper gingerly walked off the field -- what happened?

After a 17-yard reception with less than two minutes left in the third quarter against the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper left the field. Could the team’s leading receiver miss some time due to injury? Here are the latest details.

    Amari Cooper Injury Update

Leading 20-0 against the flailing Cardinals, Cooper hauled in a 17-yard reception from Deshaun Watson with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter. He immediately hobbled to the sideline, pointing at his right foot. Cooper missed the next couple of plays but returned to the field in the fourth quarter.

At the time of writing, Cooper has hauled in all four of his targets for 90 yards and a pop-fly touchdown off a tipped pass.

Despite Watson missing several games due to injury, Cooper has put up respectable numbers as the Browns’ unquestioned WR1. He leads the team with 58 targets, 30 receptions, 478 yards, and two touchdowns this season.

    Fantasy Impact of Cooper’s Injury

Cleveland’s passing offense has endured a lot of moving parts under center this season. Unfortunately, Cooper suffered an injury in the second half of their Week 9 matchup against the Cardinals. Cooper caught all four of his targets for 90 yards and a score prior to sustaining an injury.

If Cooper misses any time in the near future, look for Elijah Moore, David Njoku, and Cedric Tillman to see expanded roles in the passing game. This could also affect Watson’s weekly fantasy ranking at the QB position if his top pass catcher is forced to miss time in the coming weeks.
