The Philadelphia Eagles continue to reward the top players on the roster this offseason as they have reportedly agreed to a massive contract extension with star wide receiver A.J. Brown ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Eagles Reset Wide Receiver Market With A.J. Brown’s Contract Extension
According to multiple reports, the Eagles have agreed to a three-year, $96 million contract extension with Brown. The massive deal includes $84 million guaranteed and resets the current wide receiver market.
Earlier this month, Philadelphia signed DeVonta Smith to a three-year, $75 million contract extension. Now, the Eagles have taken care of both of the team’s top wide receivers, as Brown now leads the NFL in average salary per year at his position.

Brown will make $32 million per year on his new deal, which surpasses Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill as the highest amount at the position. The timing of Brown’s extension is important, as it will likely look like a steal for the Eagles within a few months.
There are several young, star wide receivers eyeing massive contract extensions, including Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and CeeDee Lamb. It’s entirely possible that all three of those players will sign bigger deals than the one that Brown reportedly signed with the Eagles.
It’s ironic that Brown signed this extension with the Eagles on the first night of the 2024 NFL Draft as he was initially traded to Philadelphia from the Tennessee Titans and signed his original contract extension on the first night of the 2022 NFL Draft.
This represents somewhat of a full-circle moment for both the Eagles and Brown.
Eagles Solidify Offensive Core by Signing A.J. Brown to Massive Extension
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has done his best impersonation of Thanos this offseason. Roseman has focused on signing Philadelphia’s offensive core to massive contract extensions in 2024.
Just as Thanos collected all of the infinity stones to complete the infinity gauntlet, Roseman signing Brown to an extension is his equivalent of collecting the mind stone. Now, the Eagles have essentially completed the team’s version of the infinity gauntlet.
Brown and Smith join Jalen Hurts, Jordan Mailata, and Landon Dickerson as players that the Eagles have now signed through 2028. Securing the long-term future of Philadelphia’s core offensive players was clearly a point of emphasis for Roseman this offseason.
While the future of Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is questionable past 2024, the Eagles will at least have the team’s offensive core in place.
Now, Philadelphia will likely turn towards the 2024 NFL Draft as the team looks to take the defensive core to the next level.
