Adrian Peterson made his mark in the NFL as one of the best running backs the league has ever seen. He was drafted in 2007 by the Minnesota Vikings and spent 10 of his 15 seasons with them.
“All Day” bounced around from the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and the Seattle Seahawks before seemingly retiring (maybe?).
His biggest highlight in his career was his MVP season in 2012 where he came back from tearing both his ACL and MCL the year before. He was the seventh player in NFL history to hit 2,000 yards in a season with 2,097 rushing yards. He was also a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and was named first-team All-Pro four times and second-team three times.
Peterson is from Palestine, Texas, and burst onto the scene as one of the best running backs in football when he was just a freshman at Oklahoma in 2004. While at Oklahoma, Peterson also met his now wife, Ashley Brown, who he has six kids with.
Adrian Peterson’s NFL Career
Peterson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft seventh overall. His impact was immediately felt in his rookie season and he won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He also broke the NFL single-game rushing record in his rookie season with 296 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 30 carries.
He won the MVP award in 2012 and became the seventh player in NFL history to hit 2,000 yards in a season at 2,097 rushing yards.
What Is Peterson Doing Now?
He’s said he’s not technically retired, but with him joining the cast of this season of Dancing With The Stars, it sure seems like he is retired at this point from playing in the NFL.
How Much Is Peterson’s Salary?
The last official salary that Peterson made was in 2021 when the Titans paid him $140,000 as a practice squad player. He’s earned over $99 million during his career and signed a MASSIVE seven-year, $96 million deal in 2011 with the Vikings. It included $32 million in guaranteed wages and made Peterson the highest-paid running back in NFL history up to that point.
Due to injuries, his stock fell, and that’s why he was paid that amount recently by the Titans.
Peterson’s Current Net Worth
His current net worth is about $1 million even after his career earnings in the NFL and his endorsement deals that included brands like Verizon, Nike, and Adidas. The biggest reason that Peterson has hit financial troubles was documented in 2019 by his lawyer at the time, saying that he got in trouble for “trusting the wrong people” with his money.
He also has had some legal troubles that didn’t help either. They started with an assault on his son in 2014, and then as recently as 2022, he was arrested in Los Angeles for a domestic violence incident that involved his wife.
