Garrett Wilson caught one of the best touchdown passes in NFL history during the New York Jets’ 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9. The Jets star looked like the “Jumpman” logo of the Jordan brand while catching the pass, and the pictures went viral all over social media.
Davante Adams, who also scored a touchdown in the game, talked about Wilson’s catch and tried to make a recruiting pitch for him to join the Jordan brand. The Ohio State product is currently signed with Adidas, and they didn’t shy away from making a statement to keep the other brand away.
Adidas Sends Strong Message to Jordan Brand After Garrett Wilson’s TD
“I told him he might get kicked from Adidas after that one,” Adams said about Wilson’s catch. “That one looked like he headed over to Jumpman with me. I’m gonna talk to some people.”
Following Adams’ comments, Adidas released a statement that said, “He can jump, man! Garrett’s not going anywhere.”

Adidas has made it clear that they are keeping Wilson no matter how much interest a brand like Jordan has in the Jets wide receiver.
Many compared Wilson’s catch to Odell Beckham Jr.’s one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. Both these catches were caught at MetLife Stadium, and like Beckham, Wilson’s catch will be remembered for years to come.
Hopefully, Adidas will use the opportunity to further market the former Ohio State star, who is already one of the best players at the wide receiver position. Wilson, the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been the most consistent Jets player since he was drafted. Now with Aaron Rodgers, he has the opportunity to ascend to the next level and become a household name.
Wilson Has Flourished Alongside Davante Adams
Three weeks ago, the Jets acquired Adams via trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. The win in Week 9 was their first with the six-time Pro Bowler on the roster. Many thought that Wilson’s production would take a hit following Adams’ arrival, but that has not been the case.
The 24-year-old star has flourished alongside the veteran wideout and has taken the opportunities presented to him. In three games with Adams, Wilson has 19 catches for 264 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 88.0 receiving yards per game and 13.9 yards per reception. In comparison, without Adams, he had 41 catches for 399 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 66.5 receiving yards per game and 9.7 yards per reception.
Since arriving in New York, Adams has 14 catches for 175 yards and one touchdown on 26 targets. He hasn’t played well so far, but the 37-yard touchdown pass that he caught from Rodgers in the fourth quarter of the game could go a long way for him and the team.
The Jets will hope their star wide receivers continue to play complementary football for the rest of the season, as they must be nearly perfect to make the playoffs. New York is 3-6 on the season and has games against the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts before their bye week.
