What Did Adam Schefter Have To Say About the Rumors of the Eagles’ Locker Room Issues?

    Published on

Conflicting reports have emerged on the Eagles' rumored locker room problems, as Adam Schefter shut down a claim from Craig Carton.

Craig Carton, former WFAN host and now Fox Sports 1’s host of The Carton Show turned heads on Tuesday when he stated that he heard rumblings of locker room turmoil inside the Philadelphia Eagles organization and that “it cannot be fixed.”

ESPN’s senior NFL reporter Adam Schefter said otherwise.

Adam Schefter Dispels Philadelphia Eagles Locker Room Rumors

Schefter spoke on 97.5 The Fanatic, a New Jersey-based radio station in the Philadelphia market on Wednesday morning and poured cold water over Carton’s claims from Tuesday.

“I texted someone in the organization yesterday, and the text I got back was, ‘None of that ‘S’ happened,” Schefter stated on The John Kincaide Show. “That is what qualifies as a report. You can just go say whatever you want, and it gets clicks, and people hear about it. Was somebody with another player’s woman or something? Who knows; I’m just telling you somebody in the organization was pretty adamant yesterday that none of that happened.”

In short, Carton says he knows why the Eagles collapsed, but he won’t say the reason that it happened, except to say the following:

“I can tell you that it is a problem that would splinter any group of men, any group of men. It is a real, significant problem, and it cannot be fixed. … I’m not gonna tell you any more than that, but I know what the problem was. I know they’re trying to fix it, and I don’t think it can be fixed. So, it will be very interesting to see if a high-profile player is no longer with the Eagles going into this season.”

There is reason to believe that there was internal strife throughout the 2023 season for Philadelphia. Less than a full year after leading the team to the Super Bowl, concerns over quarterback Jalen Hurts’ leadership grew late in the season, while punt-returner Britain Covey also acknowledged there was “finger-pointing.”

There was trouble stirring around star wideout A.J. Brown this past year, though he tried to downplay it. Carton could be talking about Brown, but there could also be reason to believe he is talking about quarterback Jalen Hurts, who appeared to be unhappy throughout the season as well.

There are certainly conversations being had to improve from last season’s 11-6 finish and poor Wild Card loss.

In response to Schefter debunking his claims, Carton fired off a pair of posts on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Eagles fans are funny – tough guys 4 sure but apparently also a bunch of snowflakes – whining all day about me saying I know what happened in Philly – didn’t say what it is just that I know what it is – interesting off season for sure – maybe even adding Saquon to replace Swift,” he posted.

“Eagles say there are no locker room issues and u sheep just follow along and go baaaa, baaaa – like its the gospel yet every story from December/January about them was the locker room discord leading into the loss to Tampa – more tomorrow on @fs1– have a blessed day Me-1 You -0,” he posted about an hour later.
