The NFL coaching carousel was in full motion after the 2023 season, and the offensive-coordinator landscape has changed considerably. Let’s take a look at the OCs for each of the 32 NFL franchise and their coaching background before becoming coordinators.

AFC Offensive Coordinators
Baltimore Ravens | Todd Monken
Todd Monken is a 34-year coaching veteran with nine years of NFL experience, including five years coordinating NFL offenses. Prior to joining the Baltimore Ravens, he led the offensive attacks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2016-18) and Cleveland Browns (2019). Monken also coached the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receivers from 2007-10. He also spent three years (2020-22) as the University of Georgia’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, helping guide the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships.
Buffalo Bills | Joe Brady
After a 5-5 start during the 2023 season and an embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey was fired. Joe Brady took over play-calling duties on an interim basis. Brady made the most of the opportunity and the Bills removed his interim tag, promoting him to full-time OC.
Cincinnati Bengals | Dan Pitcher
After Brian Callahan was hired away by the Tennessee Titans to take the head coaching reins, quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher was immediately elevated to offensive coordinator. Pitcher served as the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterbacks coach from 2020 to 2023.
Cleveland Browns | VACANT
At the end of the Browns’ 3-14 season, the organization fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. The Browns offense ranked 32nd in PFN’s Offense+ for the 2024 season.
Denver Broncos | Joe Lombardi
Joe Lombardi has 28 years of cumulative coaching experience, and he spent the previous 18 seasons in the NFL with four teams. His first Denver Broncos offense ranked 26th in yards and 19th in scoring.
Houston Texans | Bobby Slowik
The Houston Texans ended up with, arguably, the best OC hire of the 2023 season. Slowik got Houston to rise to 12th in yards while also being the man behind C.J. Stroud’s breakout rookie season. Slowik did so well that NFL teams interviewed him for head coaching openings, but he opted to remain with the Texans.
Indianapolis Colts | Jim Bob Cooter
The Indianapolis Colts brought in Jim Bob Cooter to be the offensive coordinator under new head coach Shane Steichen. The hiring served as a reunion between the Colts and Cooter, who started his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant with Indianapolis from 2009-2011. Cooter put together the league’s 10th best scoring offense.
Jacksonville Jaguars | Press Taylor
Press Taylor was the third rookie offensive coordinator lured in, as he returned to work with Doug Pederson in 2022. Taylor was previously with Pederson between 2016 and 2020 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Jags ranked 13th in both scoring and total yards.
Kansas City Chiefs | Matt Nagy
Matt Nagy will be in pursuit of the Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. Nagy held the same position in 2016 and 2017 before being hired as the head coach of the Chicago Bears. He was fired in Chicago after the 2021 season and returned to the Chiefs a short time later. He previously held the titles of quarterbacks coach and senior assistant during the 2022 season.
Las Vegas Raiders | VACANT
On November 3, after the Raiders started the season 2-7 with one of the lowest-performing offenses in the league, offensive coordinator Luke Gesty was fired. Before coming to Las Vegas in the 2024 offseason, he was the OC of the Chicago Bears from 2022-2023. A replacement has not yet been named.
Los Angeles Chargers | Greg Roman
With Jim Harbaugh now in place, he turned his attention to building his first Chargers staff and ultimately hired Greg Roman as his offensive coordinator. Roman was his former OC with the San Francisco 49ers, and he most recently served as the Ravens’ OC from 2019 to 2022. Harbaugh also hired Marcus Brady away from the Colts to serve as passing game coordinator.
Miami Dolphins | Frank Smith
Frank Smith returned to Miami to work with rookie head coach Mike McDaniel, having spent 2021 as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach of the Chargers. He went on to help construct a high-octane offense that ranked first in yards and second in scoring.
New England Patriots | Alex Van Pelt
Alex Van Pelt is now the New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator under Jerod Mayo. His offenses ranked in the middle of the pack throughout his first two years in Cleveland. His only previous experience as an OC came in 2009 with the Bills. Before arriving in Cleveland, Van Pelt spent time with the Buccaneers, Packers, and Bengals as either quarterbacks coach or running backs coach.
New York Jets | Nathaniel Hackett
After parting ways with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, the New York Jets decided to bring in former one-and-done Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett to take over the position. Hackett and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh worked together for two seasons in 2015 and 2016 as part of Gus Bradley’s staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pittsburgh Steelers | Arthur Smith
After being let go by the Atlanta Falcons this past offseason, former head coach Arthur Smith joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as their new offensive coordinator. Smith had one of the top rushing attacks when he was the Tennessee Titans OC before heading to Atlanta three years ago. He now is in charge of Pittsburgh’s run-heavy offense.
Tennessee Titans | Nick Holz
Nick Holz spent one season with the Jags as their pass-game coordinator after one year at UNLV as the OC. The 39-year-old spent the bulk of his coaching tenure as an assistant with the Raiders, beginning in 2012 as an offensive assistant before rising through the ranks and ultimately ending up as the assistant wide receivers coach in 2021. Holz and Callahan were on the Raiders staff together in 2018.
NFC Offensive Coordinators
Arizona Cardinals | Drew Petzing
The Cardinals tabbed Drew Petzing as their OC. Petzing started coaching in the NFL back in 2013 as a Browns intern. He held various positions on the Vikings’ offensive staff from 2014 to 2019 finishing as wide receivers coach, and then went to the Browns first as a tight ends coach and then quarterbacks coach.
Atlanta Falcons | Zac Robinson
Raheem Morris is bringing a Los Angeles Rams-style attack to Atlanta by luring in Zac Robinson, who served as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator in L.A. while Morris ran the Rams defense.
Carolina Panthers | Brad Idzik
Thomas Brown wasn’t retained by Carolina once Dave Canales was hired as head coach. Now, the offensive guru Canales has brought Idzik over from Tampa Bay. Idzik was previously the wide receivers coach for the NFC South champion Buccaneers.
Chicago Bears | Vacant
The Chicago Bears’ offensive has not been good in 2024, to say the least. After another awful performance, where they were incapable of scoring a single touchdown, the team fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Through 10 weeks of the season, the Bears’ offense has a D grade in PFN’s proprietary OFF+ metric, which is 28th in the league ahead of just the Browns, Patriots, Giants, and Raiders.
Waldron was shown the door after the Bears went a whopping 23 straight drives without scoring a TD.
Dallas Cowboys | Brian Schottenheimer
Brian Schottenheimer was one of the more highly-publicized OC hires, as he replaced the widely popular Kellen Moore. Dallas ended up placing first in scoring with 509 points. The Cowboys also ranked fifth in total yards.
Detroit Lions | Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson has established an aggressive and physical offense that’s caught the attention of the NFL, so much so that Johnson interviewed for some NFL head-coaching openings. Fortunately for the Lions, Johnson decided to return to Detroit for 2024.
Green Bay Packers | Adam Stenavich
Stenavich joined forces with Matt LaFleur in turning around the Packers’ offense during their playoff run. Green Bay scored between 33 to 48 points in three of its final five games including the playoffs. Furthermore, Stenavich helped get the best out of Jordan Love during the Pack’s charge to the postseason, as Love delivered nine games with zero interceptions.
Los Angeles Rams | Mike LaFleur
The Los Angeles Rams hired former New York Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur to lead their offense in 2023. LaFleur wasn’t calling plays, as Sean McVay held that role. However, LaFleur helped oversee Puka Nacua’s breakout rookie season of 105 catches for 1,486 yards.
Minnesota Vikings | Wes Phillips
Wes Phillips is the son of Wade Phillips and the grandson of Bum Phillips. Unlike his father, Phillips’ area of expertise is offense. His coaching helped the Vikings rank 10th in total yards.
New Orleans Saints | Klint Kubiak
After moving on from Pete Carmichael, the New Orleans Saints hired Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator. Last season, Kubiak served as the San Francisco 49ers’ passing game coordinator. Kubiak is the son of Gary Kubiak, the former head coach who led the Denver Broncos to a win in Super Bowl 50.
New York Giants | Mike Kafka
Mike Kafka is a first-time offensive coordinator, but he previously worked with the Chiefs as an offensive quality control coach (2017), quarterbacks coach (2018-21), and passing game coordinator (2020-21). Kafka also spent five years as a player in the NFL. The Giants clearly took a liking to Kafka, even blocking interview attempts by the Seattle Seahawks.
Philadelphia Eagles | Kellen Moore
In 2023, Kellen Moore completed his first season with the Chargers after four seasons as the Cowboys offensive coordinator. The Chargers’ offense ranked 21st in points and 18th in total yards this season under Moore. Moore’s future with the Chargers was uncertain after the team hired Jim Harbaugh as head coach. The team prevented Moore from interviewing with other teams for offensive coordinator jobs until they hired a head coach.
Moore led the Cowboys’ offense from 2019 to 2022 when the team was second in the league in total offense and scoring. Dallas had the fourth-best passing offense and seventh-best rushing offense in the four years with Moore as offensive coordinator.
San Francisco 49ers | Vacant
There is no official offensive coordinator for the 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan serves as the de facto OC. He is supported by Klay Kubiak and Chris Foerster as the passing-game and run-game coordinators, respectively.
Seattle Seahawks | Ryan Grubb
The Seattle Seahawks hired Ryan Grubb from the college ranks. Prior to accepting their offensive-coordinator gig, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Washington, who had one of the best offenses in the nation.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Liam Coen
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Liam Coen to replace Dave Canales as the team’s offensive coordinator. Coen has split the last three seasons between the University of Kentucky and the Los Angeles Rams, serving as the offensive coordinator for both. He ran the Wildcats’ offense in 2021 and 2023 and was the OC on Sean McVay’s staff in 2022. Coen has 14 years of coaching experience overall, including four with the Rams.
Washington Commanders | Kliff Kingsbury
In a stunning 180-turn, Kliff Kingsbury was on his way to join the Raiders before being guaranteed more years with the Commanders. The former Arizona Cardinals head coach opted to join Washington, where he’ll be replacing Eric Bieniemy.
