NFL News: Sean McVay, Rams “locked in”

Set for Super Bowl LVI, the Los Angeles Rams walked through their final practices of the playoffs in advance of Sunday’s game. And while there has been a lot of unconfirmed speculation and rumors around the NFL about Sean McVay’s future beyond this game, that wasn’t the topic of conversation Saturday following practice.

“We’re very confident,” McVay told a pool reporter. “We’re ready to go. Then we’ve just got to play great in that window that we’ve got. There’s a good look in their eyes. I think there’s a good urgency, but also I just have a good feel about this team. I feel excited to watch them go and do their thing.”

The Rams are relatively healthy and made no changes to their final injury report.

“I feel good,” McVay said. “These guys are locked in for the task at hand. I feel good about the leadership of our group. They understand what a great opportunity they’ve earned. I think they’re going to go and play well tomorrow.”

NFL News: Zac Taylor, Bengals “ready to go”

Meanwhile, the Bengals conducted their final practice Saturday for roughly 40 minutes. According to a pool report, it was a light workout in t-shirts and shorts.

Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah, listed as questionable, is expected to play. Wide receiver Trent Taylor and defensive tackle Mike Daniels were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.

“Just our final wrap-up, nothing major,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said. “Just part of our routine.”

The Bengals have beat the odds all season. Now, they’ll attempt to do so again Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

“Guys are locked in and ready to go,” Taylor said.

NFL News and Rumors: Broncos hiring Tyrone Wheatley

The Denver Broncos are hiring Morgan State head coach Tyrone Wheatley as their new running backs coach, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly. Wheatley has been the head coach at Morgan State since February 6, 2019, and has a 5-18 record.

A former running backs coach at Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, Michigan, the Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars, Wheatley finished his NFL career with over 6,500 all-purpose yards.

Wheatley, 50, is a retired former NFL running back who played collegiately at Michigan, where he was an All-Big Ten selection. The former New York Giants’ first-round draft pick led the team in rushing yards twice before being traded to the Miami Dolphins. Wheatley also played for the Raiders in his 10-year career.
