The quarterback market is at a standstill while Aaron Rodgers ponders his NFL future. Rodgers is arguably the top quarterback remaining in free agency, and several teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, and Minnesota Vikings, have been linked to him.
It’s unclear how close Rodgers is to a decision, and until he makes it, the remaining starting quarterback situations could be at an impasse.

Rodgers is no stranger to taking some time to decide on his NFL future, as he previously went on a ‘darkness retreat’ to mull his career in 2023.
In 2024, Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while playing all 17 games. He also added 94 yards and a touchdown on the ground, finishing with a No. 21 ranking and 72.2 rating (C-) in PFSN’s QB+ metric.
Despite the solid stat line, Rodgers and the Jets struggled to live up to expectations. The offense ranked No. 19 in PFSN’s Offense+ metric with a score of 72.7 (C-). They finished the season with a 5-12 record, good for third in the AFC East.
Rodgers turns 42 in December and is entering his 21st season in the NFL. This will be his second season removed from the devastating torn Achilles he suffered in the opening week of the 2023 season.
Pittsburgh is one of the top suitors for Rodgers after acquiring DK Metcalf for a second-round pick from the Seattle Seahawks. With Metcalf and George Pickens out wide and one of the league’s top defenses, the Steelers could swap Russell Wilson with Rodgers as they look to make a deep playoff run.
The Giants are another potential suitor for Rodgers, allowing him to stay local and try to change the fortune he had with the Jets. With general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll potentially on the hot seat, adding the four-time NFL MVP would be a splashy move for the franchise as it looks to return to playoff contention.
The final potential suitor for Rodgers is the Vikings. After losing Sam Darnold in free agency to the Seahawks, all signs point to J.J. McCarthy taking the reins as the starting quarterback. However, if last year’s 10th overall pick is not deemed healthy or ready to start, Rodgers would provide the team with a veteran option who could step right in and help the team compete.
“Not solemn. Just reflective. Taking his time,” said NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Currently, most of the attention in the NFL world is on Rodgers, as potential suitors and other free-agent quarterbacks await his decision. With no timetable set for his decision, the quarterback carousel could stay in neutral for a while.
