Aaron Rodgers has been battling a toe injury that refuses to go away. After suffering a reported setback during last week’s game against the Chicago Bears, he’s listed as questionable once again. Will Rodgers play in Week 15, and what can fantasy football managers expect?
Aaron Rodgers’ injury timeline
It’s another week, and Rodgers is still talking about his feet. And, by extension, we’re all still talking about his feet. Specifically, we’re talking about his toe.
Never did I think I would Google the phrase “Aaron Rodgers feet,” but 2021 is weird, and here we are. I’m sure you didn’t think you’d search it, either. If you did, and if it led you here, then welcome to the weird.
Fortunately for all of us, Rodgers has a standing appointment with Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show every Tuesday, where he continues to enjoy talking about his toe. During his Tuesday spot, he said the toe was “definitely hurting,” and he also told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that “It’s not going to be a problem, I don’t think. It’s not going to stop me from playing. It’s just pain management.”
Rodgers is one of the few players that pretty much dictates his own playing status. If he says he’s playing, he’s playing. We can count on him to power through the injury with the Packers now in the driver’s seat for the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
Rodgers has been playing great despite the toe injury
If Rodgers is hurt, you wouldn’t know it. In his last three games, Rodgers has completed 69.5% of his passes for 1,033 yards (344.3 per game) with 10 TDs and 0 INTs. He’s also scrambled a few times, rushing 5 times for 21 yards and 1 TD on the ground.
Rodgers has averaged 29.8 fantasy points per game in that time and is playing like the best quarterback in football. Nobody has averaged more points per game over that span. If this is a limited Rodgers because of a toe injury, then I fear what a fully healthy Rodgers would be doing right now.
Aaron Rodgers’ fantasy expectations
Fantasy expectations? He’s going to play, and he’s currently the best quarterback in football — no matter what defense is across from him.
This week, Rodgers will have the Baltimore defense on the other side of the ball. The Ravens have fielded the toughest defense against running backs over the last four weeks, but they’ve been in the middle of the pack against quarterbacks.
Rodgers will be Rodgers. You don’t sit Rodgers at all throughout the fantasy playoffs if you have him and he’s healthy enough to play. Also, if you enjoy looking ahead like I do, Rodgers will face the Vikings in the fantasy football championship week. When they met in Week 11, Rodgers threw for 385 yards and 4 TDs.
So, yeah. It’s safe to say Rodgers is a pretty dang good fantasy asset right now, and he should be considered an elite fantasy QB as we head into the playoffs.
