Aaron Rodgers Injury Aftermath: How Much Longer Are New York Jets’ Super Bowl Odds?

How much did the Aaron Rodgers injury impact the New York Jets' Super Bowl odds?

You might have heard that Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in his New York Jets debut. He didn’t even get to complete a pass before getting injured and was ruled out in the 2nd quarter.

Rodgers’ injury is obviously a massive blow to the Jets. After years of instability at the quarterback position, their trade for Rodgers and elite defense gave the Jets and their fans much hope for the 2023 season.

After the game, head coach Robert Saleh told the media that “the MRI is probably gonna confirm what we think is already going to happen. So prayers tonight, but it’s not good.”

Now the Jets are left with Zach Wilson at quarterback, and suddenly, their odds of becoming a Super Bowl contender are much longer.

New York Jets Super Bowl Odds Update

Going into tonight, the New York Jets had the 9th-shortest odds of winning the Super Bowl at DraftKings Sportsbook at +1800. Following Rodgers’ injury, their odds are now +6000, 16th-shortest in the NFL.

The Jets’ odds to win the AFC East took a major hit as well. Before Rodgers’ injury, they were +270, second behind the Buffalo Bills. Now, their odds have increased all the way to +600.

Quarterback is by far the most important position in the NFL, so their injuries have the greatest impact on the odds. That is especially true for teams like the New York Jets, who went into the season with playoff expectations. Rodgers was supposed to give this offense a major boost, but now their season might be in the hands of Zach Wilson.
