Aaron Rodgers is looking for a new team as the New York Jets recently announced that he will not be back with the organization for the 2025 season. The veteran is coming off a rough stint in New York after many claimed him to be the “final piece” to get the Jets over the hump. However, a torn Achilles in the 2023 season opener abruptly halted that plan.
Rodgers may have enough left in the tank for one more run, but one of his former teammates recently went on FS1 and said he should stay away from a potential landing spot.

Former WR Says Aaron Rodgers Should ‘Eliminate’ Steelers From His List of Suitors
Greg Jennings was selected in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by Green Bay and spent seven seasons of his 10-year NFL career as a Packer. The best stretch of his career was 2008-2011 where he eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards three times, made the Pro Bowl twice, and won Super Bowl 45 alongside Rodgers.
The beginning of that stretch coincides with Rodgers taking over as the starting quarterback. Rodgers was drafted in 2005 and spent his first three seasons as the backup to Hall of Famer Brett Favre. He spent 18 years in Green Bay, was named league MVP four times, and captured the Lombardi Trophy.
Rodgers’ time in New York included attempting one pass in 2023 before going down for the season, and 2024 was one of his worst statistical seasons in which he played every game. The future Hall of Famer threw for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
He finished 2024 ranked No. 21 in PFSN’s QB+ metric and is now looking for a new team at 41 years old. His former teammate recently was on FS1 and labeled the Pittsburgh Steelers as a team Rodgers should avoid this offseason.
FS1’s Greg Jennings believes the Steelers don’t have the supporting cast for Aaron Rodgers: “You have to have a supporting cast that’s intriguing for Aaron Rodgers. If we are just looking from Aaron Rodgers’ perspective. He wants to win another championship, so you can eliminate…

“You have to have a supporting cast that’s intriguing for Aaron Rodgers. If we are just looking from Aaron Rodgers’ perspective. He wants to win another championship, so you can eliminate anybody who you believe doesn’t have a chance,” Jennings states.
The former receiver doesn’t feel the Steelers are that team, saying, “So that leaves the Pittsburgh Steelers as a team that you would say, ‘Okay, maybe,’ but I would eliminate them because they don’t have the supporting cast,” which adds some credence. Pittsburgh was No. 25 in PFSN’s Offense Rankings, with no one performing at a high level in 2024.
George Pickens led the team with 900 receiving yards in 14 games, and Pat Freiermuth led the way with seven touchdowns. Najee Harris was the team’s leading rusher with 1,043 yards and six touchdowns behind a poor offensive line, and Jaylen Warren added 821 yards from scrimmage with only one touchdown.
Justin Fields and Russell Wilson combined to throw for 3,588 yards and just 21 touchdowns. You can argue that Rodgers at 41 is a better QB option than either of those two, but whether he joins the Steelers or not, Pittsburgh will likely remain in quarterback purgatory as it has since Ben Roethlisberger retired.
Rodgers is hoping for one more run, but he should listen to his former teammate and eliminate teams that aren’t ready to win now, even if they might appear that way.
