Aaron Rodgers’ Ex-Teammate ‘Dead Serious’ About Demoting Jets QB in 2025

    Published on

Aaron Rodgers' former Packers teammate has a new role in mind for him with the New York Jets in 2025 season, if the QB gets one at all.

The New York Jets had a foolproof plan to recruit Aaron Rodgers, one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, and end their playoff drought. However, things haven’t changed. Instead, the Jets’ playoff drought has increased to 14 seasons.

Now, Rodgers’ former teammate, James Jones, expects the veteran QB to play a different role next season — if he has one.

James Jones Sees Aaron Rodgers as Jets’ ‘Bridge QB’

The world is talking about Rodgers’ future at this point. Many think that the four-time MVP is all set to depart, while others believe that he will stick around for one more year. Meanwhile, Rodgers’ former Green Bay Packers teammate argues the answer lies in the tape.

“I think that’s what it’s gonna come down to, whether Aaron Rodgers likes it or not, bridge quarterback is what he is right now,” said Jones on FS1.

“I’m dead serious, and even with his age, one more year is what you’re gonna get out of Aaron Rodgers.”

“So, if you’re the New York Jets, when you turn on the tape, and you watch it, ‘Is this dude good enough to be a bridge quarterback for one more year? We’re going to draft one, and we’re going to keep Aaron Rodgers, and we’re going to let him be a bridge quarterback for one more year.’ If the tape shows you that.”

Jones added that if the incoming general manager and the head coach do not find Rodgers’ tape satisfactory enough to let him enjoy the position of a bridge QB, they should release the 41-year-old.

In such a case, the Jets should draft and trust a rookie quarterback or sign a free agent to lead them next season.

    Jordan Love Sings Rodgers’ Praises

The issue of Rodgers being good enough to be a bridge QB should have one person’s input apart from the tapes: Jordan Love.

Rodgers groomed the Packers’ star, and in a recent interview, Love did not shy away from highlighting their relationship.

“We do; we have a great relationship,” Love said on the “Thanalysis Show.”

“Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him.”

“And when you’re in that room together, you’re there every day for multiple hours a day. So, you build a relationship with everybody that’s in that room. We have a good relationship.”
