Future NFL Hall of Famers Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams Predicted To Land With NFC Super Bowl Contender

The New York Jets could cut ties with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in a surprise trade with an NFC Super Bowl contender.

The Philadelphia Eagles steamrolled to hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the most part, but the one team that gave them major trouble was the Los Angeles Rams.

The tandem of quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Puka Nacua came up one touchdown short of defeating the eventual champions. Despite this, there’s no guarantee Stafford is playing for the Rams next season, whether it’s because he retires or seeks a larger, long-term contract elsewhere.

Assuming Stafford is not on Los Angeles’ roster by the time training camp rolls around, the Rams may look to bring in another veteran QB because their roster is ready to compete now.

Rams Could Land Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams in Blockbuster Package

The Rodgers era with the New York Jets is seemingly over after just one full season, which means Davante Adams’ time with the organization could also very well be over.

Because the Rams have a roster geared to compete soon, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton predicts the front office will land Rodgers and Adams in a surprising blockbuster. Before projecting this move, Moton also proposed a deal that would send Stafford and WR Cooper Kupp to the Pittsburgh Steelers, paving the way.

The hypothetical trade details the Rams receiving Rodgers and Adams in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick (from the hypothetical Steelers trade), a 2025 fourth-round pick, and a 2025 sixth-round pick.

“If the Rams trade Stafford, they can temporarily fix the position and strengthen their offense by adding the second-round pick from the Steelers trade to a package for Rodgers and Adams,” Moton wrote. “The Rams can acquire Rodgers and Adams as a package deal to replace Stafford and Kupp and stay in a win-now window. They would also have their first-round pick to take a quarterback or address another position of need.”

Stafford ranked No. 22 in PFSN’s QB+ metric, as he proved himself a serviceable starter but didn’t overachieve for his age. Meanwhile, Rodgers slotted in one spot above (No. 21), meaning the Rams are, in theory, getting a slight upgrade.

Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen, especially when considering Stafford led L.A. to a postseason appearance while Rodgers went 5-12 as the Jets starter. In Rodgers’ defense, New York’s offense (No. 19) was marginally worse compared to the Rams (No. 11), per PFSN’s Offense+ metric.

The reality is the Rams likely don’t want to commit another lucrative deal to an aging quarterback, which is why Rodgers can act as the perfect transition player with one year left on his contract.
