Aaron Jones can’t seem to escape the injury bug. The veteran Green Bay Packers running back has already missed time with injury issues this season, and he may have gotten banged up again on Sunday night. Here’s the latest on Jones as the Packers face the Minnesota Vikings in a must-win game.
Aaron Jones Injury Update
Jones took a handoff for a nine-yard gain with roughly five minutes remaining in the second quarter but soon was spotted receiving treatment from Green Bay’s trainers along the club’s sidelines.
Fellow AJ Dillon took the Packers’ next carry, and quarterback Jordan Love scored a rushing touchdown on the following play.

Jones subsequently entered the blue medical tent for evaluation. He quickly emerged and walked on Green Bay’s sideline without a trainer before sitting on the bench to watch film with Dillon and Packers RB coach Ben Sirmans, per Matt Schneiderman of The Athletic.
Fortunately, Jones returned to Sunday night’s game when Green Bay began its next offensive drive. He appears to avoid a serious injury.
Jones, 29, entered Week 17 with 618 yards from scrimmage and three total touchdowns in nine games. He’s already missed six games due to injury in 2023.
What Would the Packers’ Offense Look Like Without Jones?
Dillon is the clear fill-in option for Jones, but he wouldn’t simply replace Jones as a top-15 running back. He has been held scoreless in five straight games when handed the ball 14+ times and entered Week 17 averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.
On the bright side, the Packers seem committed to Dillon on the goal line (three of his seven carries in Week 16 came inside the 10-yard line), elevating his scoring equity enough to land him in the low-end RB2/Flex conversation with Jones sidelined.
