Fantasy managers finally got a small glimpse of the Aaron Jones they remember from Week 1, who finished as the RB1 overall in fantasy football, with his 17.9 fantasy points against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9. Unfortunately, Jones popped up on the injury report again this week, which means we have to take a closer look at his most recent injury updates so we can try to determine if he is going to play in Week 10.
Latest Injury Update on Aaron Jones
According to a recent report from Paul Bretl, Jones was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice with the Green Bay Packers. It’s worth noting Jones was a limited participant in every practice last week and still managed to take the field against the Rams.
Will Aaron Jones Play This Week?
It’s unclear if Jones is still significantly hampered by the hamstring injury he sustained back in the season opener or if Green Bay is simply trying to manage the workload of a veteran RB who just saw his highest touch count of the 2023 season. Yet, Jones’ continued appearances on the injury report are certainly very noteworthy.
If Jones continues to practice in a limited capacity throughout the rest of the week, he’ll have a shot at taking the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. It would be nice to see him log a full practice at some point this week to put fantasy managers’ minds at ease, but his limited participation all of last week proves Jones doesn’t need to log full practices in order to see a heavy workload on game day.
What Does This Mean for AJ Dillon’s Fantasy Ranking?
The biggest beneficiary of any injury to Jones is obviously AJ Dillon. He has seen consistent work out of the backfield all season, whether Jones has played or not.
Last week was the first game all season where Jones saw more than double the amount of opportunities over Dillon all season.

Unfortunately, when Jones has been out of the lineup, Dillon hasn’t been able to capitalize on an expanded role because of his efficiency issues in a struggling Green Bay offense. Prior to last week, the Packers went five straight games without scoring a touchdown in the first half.
If Jones is able to play against the Steelers, he’ll remain a shaky RB2 option for fantasy managers. It feels tough to rank Jones outside of my top 20 at the running back position, but his lingering hamstring issues and the aforementioned struggles of the Green Bay offense make him very tough to trust in your fantasy lineup at the moment.
If Jones is unavailable against the Steelers, then Dillon will get a slight bump in the weekly fantasy rankings and likely sneak inside the top 30 at the RB position for Week 10.
