Sunday Night Football Game Preview, Week 13 | Chiefs vs Broncos

The Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL because they’re playing complementary football. The Broncos will likely be picking top-10 in the 2021 Draft because they’re not. Consequently, this sets up as a David vs Goliath contest.

The defending Super Bowl champions are playing well

The Kansas City Chiefs are among the best teams in the NFL. After winning a Super Bowl, they only improved their roster. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been a massive improvement at the running back position, and their defense has reached another level. They could lose some of that on Sunday, as Edwards-Helaire hasn’t practiced all week due to illness, he’s listed as questionable. Even if he does miss time, the Chiefs have Le’Veon Bell ready to jump in and take his place.

Their offense is as stacked as any in NFL history. They have All-Pros all over the field and a former MVP at quarterback. As a result, they put up points each and every week without fail, and Week 13 isn’t going to be an exception. The Denver Broncos’ defense is 24th in the NFL, and moreover, allowing 27.1 points per game. Consequently, it’s near impossible to see how they could stop the Chiefs’ offense on Sunday Night Football tonight.

The Broncos are searching for consistency

On the other side of the ball, the Broncos offense should see an improvement this week. Invariably, you can’t get much worse than last week. Kendall Hinton was put in a tough situation and did the best he could, but the Broncos missed having an actual quarterback last week. With that being said, Drew Lock returns to the lineup for Sunday Night Football tonight, but he may be without two of his top weapons.

Jerry Jeudy was limited in practice most of the week with an ankle injury, though he was a full participant on Friday. In addition to Jeudy, Phillip Lindsay, dealing with a knee injury, didn’t practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and fully participated on Friday. Both are listed as questionable for the game, but with or without Lindsay and Jeudy, the Broncos are going to struggle to move the ball against a strong Chiefs’ defense.

    Week 13 NFL Power Rankings

Pro Football Network’s Senior NFL Analyst Matt Williamson (former NFL Scout and ESPN Analyst) released his Week 13 Power Rankings following the game on Wednesday Night Football in Week 12. Because the Ravens and Steelers game played on Wednesday night, it delayed the normal unveiling of the power rankings.

This week, Williamson has the Chiefs atop the NFL as a result of their electric offense and top-10 scoring defense. Meanwhile, the Broncos are among the 10 worst teams in the NFL due to their offensive struggles, especially at quarterback.
