The Pittsburgh Steelers traded for star wide receiver DK Metcalf shortly before the advent of free agency this year. The trade followed Metcalf’s request for a trade away from the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. Metcalf found success in Seattle, but the team did not have any significant playoff success during those years.
As a result, Metcalf wanted a move away and he joins a Steelers team hoping to finally take the next step in the postseason. Pittsburgh has not made it past the Wild Card round since 2017 and pairing Metcalf with star receiver George Pickens, could be the boost they need to advance further.
Metcalf signed a five-year, $150 million contract following his trade to Pittsburgh. He figures to be a long-term piece on the team’s offense moving forward. For now, though, the newest Steelers star has shocked fans around the internet with his rather surprising diet.

Steelers’ DK Metcalf Shares Candy Heavy Diet in Viral Video
In the wake of this new deal, an old podcast clip involving Metcalf has gone viral once again. The Steelers star appeared on the KG Certified Podcast with basketball legend Kevin Garnett in July 2023. During this clip, Metcalf surprised Garnett with his description of his candy-heavy diet.
“I’m a candy-type person. I eat one meal a day, drink one coffee, and eat like three full bags of candy,” Metcalf explained on the KG Certified Podcast. “Yesterday I woke up, worked out. Worked out again, came home, showered. I’m hungry, so I ran to Starbucks and grabbed a coffee.”
“This 12. (The coffee) will hold me for like four hours. Around 4:30, I ordered some candy and a water. I got Skittles gummies and the Lifesavers creations…get the gummies, get the candy, get the water, eat that. That’s gonna hold me until when I’m having dinner at 8/9,” Metcalf continued.
With DK Metcalf recently getting traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the superstar wideout’s wild candy-heavy diet is going viral again 😂

Metcalf’s diet certainly raises eyebrows upon first hearing. However, it’s hard to argue with the on-field results. The star wide receiver entered the NFL during the 2019 NFL Draft as a second-round pick of the Seahawks.
Metcalf immediately made an impact in the NFL. He caught 58 passes for 900 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie campaign. The Seahawks won the NFC West with an 11-5 record that year, but they lost in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Metcalf’s true coming out party came during the 2020 NFL season. He racked up over 1300 receiving yards on 83 catches and 10 touchdowns. The then-Seahawks star earned a Pro Bowl nod while also earning second-team All-Pro honors.
Metcalf maintained an elite level of production with four straight seasons of at least 950 receiving yards.
Two of those three seasons saw him rack up more than 1000 yards. However, Seattle never found much in the way of postseason success despite Metcalf’s performances.
The Seahawks are beginning a new era of their franchise with new signings Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp.
Similarly, Metcalf is beginning a new chapter of his career with the Steelers. It will certainly be interesting to see how things turn out for both sides moving forward.
