Paige Bueckers Hints at WNBA Draft Decision as UConn Huskies Announce New Jerseys Ahead of March Madness

If Paige Bueckers declares, she is considered the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. However, the UConn Huskies standout has been tight-lipped about her future.

The point guard is set to embark on yet another NCAA tournament run and looks to win the elusive title, ending UConn’s title drought that dates back to 2016, but before that, she shared an important message to her fans concerning her future.

Paige Bueckers Hints at WNBA Draft Decision With a Jersey Announcement

Many consider the three-time Big East Player of the Year one of the best college players of her generation, but she is also eligible for the WNBA Draft. However, she hasn’t made her true feelings known to the world.

On Tuesday, March 18, the Huskies’ social media team dropped a bombshell on X in which Bueckers talked straight into the camera. “We have something to share with you,” they captioned the video.

The clip starts with the 23-year-old sitting on a chair with her UConn jersey in her hands. “I can’t believe my time here at UConn is coming to an end,” she said. “It’s been everything I ever dreamt of as a kid.”

“I wanted to come here and wear this jersey with pride, and it’s been an amazing journey,” Bueckers said. “I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I just can’t believe I’m never going to wear this jersey again, but that’s because we have some exciting things coming soon.”

After saying her piece, the two-time All-American got up and left, followed by a montage of Bueckers and her teammates, with them showcasing their new jerseys for the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Bueckers’ Jersey Announcement Had Fans Scared

If UConn’s social media team planned to send their fans on an emotional roller coaster, they succeeded well. Fans thought that this would be Bueckers’ final goodbye as she declared for the WNBA Draft.

“so is paige coming back or no,” replied one fan.

“Admin that wasn’t funny I s**t my pants,” added a fan.

“They had me thinking she was going back,” responded one fan.

“Paige sitting down like that was unfair and frankly really f***ing rude ngl,” another fan added.

“WHY DID I GET SCARED HELLO,” tweeted a fan.

Bueckers will be in action on Friday, March 22, as the second-seeded Huskies take on the 15th-seeded Arkansas State Red Wolves in the first round of the NCAA tournament, which could also be her last.
