Eagles Predicted To Acquire $21,000,000 Superstar via Blockbuster Trade After Missing Out on Myles Garrett

The Philadelphia Eagles lost two crucial pieces of their defensive line in free agency, as Milton Williams signed with the New England Patriots and Josh Sweat inked a deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

If the Eagles hope to return to the Super Bowl and hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy once again, acquiring a defensive star seems necessary. Philadelphia fans were dreaming of a blockbuster move for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, but he rescinded his trade request in favor of a record-breaking contract extension.

This shrinks their list of possible major acquisitions, but one superstar edge rusher is seemingly still seeking a new home.

Eagles Predicted To Acquire Trey Hendrickson in Blockbuster Trade

The Cincinnati Bengals recently signed the WR tandem of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to major deals, leaving Trey Hendrickson a bit in the dust.

Hendrickson requested out of Cincinnati prior to the news of these extensions, meaning now more than ever, he is likely seeking a new home. While there’s still a decent chance Hendrickson and the Bengals come to terms on a new contract, USA Today predicts the Eagles could swoop in and trade for the 30-year-old.

“The Super Bowl champions are a team that can never be discounted when star players become available. Howie Roseman is always in this conversation,” USA Today’s Nick Brinkerhoff wrote. “Hendrickson could add to one of the league’s best defenses and play a key role in Philadelphia’s quest to repeat as champions while not breaking the bank this year.”

USA Today also listed the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, and Jacksonville Jaguars as potential destinations for Hendrickson.

The Eagles’ defense was No. 2 in PFSN’s Defense+ metric, but with their multiple key losses, it’s unlikely they slot there again without adding more talent. Hendrickson could perhaps even vault them to the top spot for next season. Alternatively, the Bengals unit was No. 28, per PFSN, meaning this would be quite the change for Hendrickson.

This data shows just how poor Cincinnati’s defense was last season, as Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks with 17.5. The Eagles’ pass rush was the most dominant in the league in 2024, which was on full display against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The addition of a cheaper contracted All-Pro DE could keep them at that status.

The addition of Hendrickson would likely create a dominant starting group of him, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Nolan Smith Jr. rushing the quarterback.
