With the 2025 Pennzoil 400 in the books, Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch has now gone 62 consecutive races without a win. After 19 straight seasons with at least one victory, Busch’s slump — which started in 2024 — keeps getting worse.
Still, with William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Josh Berry all winning Cup Series races this season, the 39-year-old believes the trend could be shifting his way.
Could Kyle Busch Be the Next ‘B-Winner’ in the Cup Series?
The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series has seen a curious trend: Every race winner so far has had a last name starting with the letter “B.” FOX: NASCAR pointed this out on X, prompting an optimistic response from the RCR driver.
Reposting the photo, Busch wrote, “Trending the right direction,” as he tried to manifest a win for himself soon enough.

Superstitious or not, the No. 8 driver needs all the luck he can get given his results over the past 62 races. He’s been on the podium a few times, but the top step has eluded him since the 2023 Enjoy Illinois 300.
Last year was one to forget for “Rowdy,” as his team struggled to find the right strategy and equipment to compete up front. But the 2025 season has been a rebuilding year for the No. 8 team — and so far, it’s shown promise.
The COTA race was a great example of the progress Busch and his team have made. The Las Vegas native led a race-high 42 laps before a late caution cost him the win.
Bell took advantage, stealing the win while Busch ended up finishing P5. It was a tough way to finish, but Busch was still happy with the performance. For the first time in a while, he felt his car was good enough to win.
Consistency seems to be the theme for the RCR No. 8 team in 2025. Busch said they’ve been doing the same things as last year — just better. That’s helped the two-time Cup Series champ get more out of the car and work toward stronger results.
Heading into the Pennzoil 400, Busch was confident in his team’s work and felt it might be the race where he finally snapped his winless streak.
But fate had other plans. Running P11 on Lap 113, his rear-right wheel flew off the car after a restart. The car hit the wall and damaged the brake line. What looked like another top-10 run turned into a P33 finish.
