Jasson Dominguez Receives a Huge Endorsement from Yankees’ Top Executive Despite Disappointing Spring

Despite losing Juan Soto to their crosstown rivals in the offseason, the New York Yankees enter the 2025 MLB season as one team that can make a World Series run.

On top of that, they have seen star pitchers Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil suffer injuries, with Cole out for the season due to Tommy John surgery.

Still, there is hope in the Bronx, especially with a still-talented lineup, even with Giancarlo Stanton also set to miss time due to injuries.

In 2024, one key player who emerged was Jasson Dominguez, and the 22-year-old could be a big part of the lineup in 2025.

Brian Cashman Drops Huge Jasson Dominguez Endorsement

With spring training winding down and the regular season just around the corner, Dominguez has been earning some big compliments.

Lately, one of them was from Yankees Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Cashman, per MLB Radio.

“He’s 22 years old, he’s got roughly 360 minor league (games) under his belt, most of which has been in center field,” Cashman said. “Continuing his development, which is what he’s been doing… You’re going to see some growing pains out of that.”

Cashman said growing pains are expected with the youngster moving from center field to left field, although he still seems optimistic about his progress.

“What you’re watching now is a better version than what you would’ve watched in late February,” Cashman stated. “The bats coming along really well, despite he’s not a finished product… So I think the longer runway you get with him, the better version of that you’ll see and the less eyebrow-raising.”

Dominguez struggled out of the gate in spring training, especially at the plate, but he has seen his numbers pick up recently.

With Cody Bellinger joining the Yankees, he is expected to be the center fielder, which moves Dominguez to left field in the process.

But, as Cashman said, he is not a finished product, and the 22-year-old will continue to develop at the MLB level.

What Can He Bring in 2025?

Dominguez played just 18 games in the regular season for the Yankees in 2024, hitting a pair of home runs with a .179 batting average in the process.

The outfielder projection in 2025 is predicted as Bellinger, Dominguez, Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge, so there should be ample playing time for the youngster right out of the gate.

Now could be the time when Dominguez shows what he can do, even at a young age with several stars on the team.
