John Cena’s heel turn is still the talk of professional wrestling several weeks after Elimination Chamber. The fallout from Cena’s actions left the fanbase with many questions. Cena appeared on “RAW” today in Belgium and offered a few answers, but several questions remain.
As Cena entered the arena to a resounding chorus of boos, he looked stoic and angry. While rumors circulated that Cena could debut new music and new attire, he arrived at his usual theme song and in his standard gear.
Cena took the mic, berated the fans, spoke about not wanting to be their puppet anymore, and even mocked a child in the audience who was dressed like him. It was a stark change for Cena, who hasn’t released this amount of anger in a promo in over 22 years.
Cena was eventually interrupted by his WrestleMania 41 opponent Cody Rhodes, and the confrontation between the two men quickly escalated.
Cody Rhodes Calls John Cena ‘Whiny’ Ahead of WrestleMania Clash
Rhodes entered the ring with an intense look on his face and verbally laid into Cena with no remorse. After Cena’s attack on Rhodes at Elimination Chamber, Rhodes had been patiently waiting for this moment.
As Cena stood emotionless, Rhodes chose his words carefully, expressing surprise at the direction Cena’s promo had taken. Rhodes continued, eventually landing on a two-word phrase that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Rhodes calling Cena a “whiny b***h” made the capacity crowd in Belgium erupt, as Cena had just finished tearing into them. Rhodes was direct in his approach, but one has to imagine that those words will awaken an even darker side of Cena heading into their match at WrestleMania.
What Role Will The Rock Play Going Forward?
The one issue with this promo between these two superstars is that it added nothing about the main factor in Cena’s heel turn: The Rock. The Rock seemed to be the catalyst for this heel turn, and while he began this process by seeking Rhodes’ “soul,” his name was not mentioned once during the segment.
The Rock is an extremely busy man, so he might not be able to appear at every “RAW,” especially one that was in Belgium. But his role in Cena’s heel turn must be addressed soon. With less than five weeks left until WrestleMania 41, the build for Cena vs. Rhodes needs to accelerate.
Will we see The Rock in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 41? What role does he play in Cena’s heel turn? Will Cena find a more vicious streak to counter Rhodes’ two-word insult? Only time will tell.
