Angel Reese couldn’t be on the court, but that didn’t stop her from celebrating like she was. The Chicago Sky star was forced to sit out Rose BC’s Unrivaled semifinal matchup against Laces BC due to a hand injury, but she was watching every second from the sidelines.
And when her team pulled off a thrilling comeback win, Reese made sure the world knew exactly how she felt.
Angel Reese Reacts to Rose BC’s Thrilling Playoff Win
As Rose BC rallied to take down Laces BC 63-57 on Sunday, Reese took to Twitter to share just how much the moment meant to her. “ugh, I’m so proud of this team, man!” she posted, her excitement spilling out for all to see.
ugh i’m so proud of this team man!

It was a big moment for the squad—and a bittersweet one for Reese. She had been an absolute force this season, leading the league in rebounds (12.2 per game) and anchoring the Rose defense, which finished the regular season allowing just 65.2 points per game—the best in the league. She made history on February 21, dropping a 22-point, 21-rebound performance against the Lunar Owls, the first 20-20 game in Unrivaled history.
Unfortunately, her playoff run was cut short after injuring her wrist in the regular-season finale last Monday, March 10, against Vinyl BC. She took a hit while securing an offensive rebound, then immediately grabbed her left wrist—the same one she had surgery on in September to repair a small crack in her bone. After spending days being evaluated, Reese was officially ruled out for the semifinals.
Still, she wasn’t about to let her injury get in the way of celebrating her team’s success. The road to the championship wasn’t easy, but Rose BC got the job done—and Reese was riding the high with them.
Adding to her eventful week, Reese earned another significant honor on Saturday: being named Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year. This recognition was well-earned, considering she led her team in rebounds and overall defensive presence all season.
Chelsea Gray Steps Up Big in Reese’s Absence
With Reese and Kahleah Copper out, Rose BC needed a leader—and Chelsea Gray delivered. The veteran dropped 39 points, including a clutch, game-winning three-pointer, steering her team across the finish line.
Things didn’t look good early on. Laces BC took control in the first half, leading 40-27 at the break. But Gray, who had already helped Rose BC to an 8-6 record in the regular season, took matters into her own hands. She single-handedly outscored Laces in the fourth quarter (9-5) and refused to let the game slip away.
Rose BC is headed to the Unrivaled Championship on March 17 against Vinyl BC. Even though Reese might not be on the floor in the finals, one thing’s for sure—she’ll be their biggest cheerleader as they chase the title.
