Kendrick Perkins on How Stephen Curry’s 4,000 3-Pointers and Insane Michael Jordan Stat ‘Changed Basketball Forever’

Stephen Curry made history with yet another three-point record. The Golden State Warriors icon now has over 4,000 3-pointers made, with many in the NBA world hailing him as the best point guard to ever play.

Kendrick Perkins, a former NBA champion, was among those who highlighted Curry’s impact on the league.

Kendrick Perkins Believes Stephen Curry Changed the Game of Basketball Forever

While on NBA Countdown, Perkins discussed Curry and how the 37-year-old star continues to shape the game of basketball.

Curry remains at the top of his game, leading the Warriors to four NBA championships in his career. Focusing on Curry’s influence, Perkins said:

“Steph Curry’s the greatest point guard of all time. We talk about those 4,000 [3-pointers] and how they impact his legacy. Think about what it did to the league. It changed the NBA. It changed basketball forever.”

Perkins also pointed out how many players attempt to emulate Curry’s shooting ability but struggle to match his skill.

“You talk about guys who wish they could take these shots. I’m in the gym watching these kids trynna make those shots. And when you think about Steph, he’s one of the most skilled players to ever play the game of basketball. Already the best shooter to ever play the game of basketball.”

Perkins Links Curry’s Stats to Michael Jordan

Though many argue for Curry’s place in the GOAT conversation, others claim there’s no denying Michael Jordan’s status. The six-time NBA champion is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever, known for taking basketball to new heights.

Perkins highlighted a key stat, noting a rare similarity between the two.

Curry, joining an elite group, is the only player apart from Jordan to win multiple MVPs, multiple championships, multiple scoring titles and an Olympic gold medal.

Shaquille O’Neal Pushes for Curry in GOAT Debate

Beyond Perkins, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has also called for Curry to be considered in the GOAT conversation.

“You know the way he plays the game. How he plays the game. I mentioned on our show that you should at least put his name in the conversation of the greatest player ever,” O’Neal said on NBA on TNT.

“I like the way he plays. Definitely changed the game. Because of him … every team is shooting 3s. They want to blame it on analytics, but it’s because everybody wanted to beat the Golden State Warriors and that guy.”

While Curry fans remain loyal to the four-time NBA champion, many critics still hesitate to include him in the all-time greats conversation. However, with over 4,000 3-pointers made, Curry continues building his case as one of the best ever.
